Hi.  My name is Robert.  I installed anaconda and even used the command prompt to try to make sure it was installed and up to date with the ipython notebook jupyter.  When my anti-virus software saw it was an unknown treat and had no choice but to have it removed, it would not even start anymore either saying a failed process on the cmd prompt on the Windows I use. I did went to programs to uninstall it and got rid of the apps part.  When I download it again just to get the setup started, it already says that it existed on the C:/ directory.  I would like to learn the program and it's causing me frustration and I am not sure what to do at this point.  I am not even sure that even if I manage to get it off my C: drive, and I download the setup application, it would still say it exist.  I am not sure what to do and I have had a good strong desire to learn programming, only to make things more complicated when I know it should have been simple to download and install anaconda which should have the ipython on it.  What should I do?  Also, how would I uninstall it completely to reinstall it without worrying about it not even opening up after the setup is completed. Please help.

Robert.

Robert,

You most likely uninstalled correctly but the Anaconda directory is still on your system. Open up a command window and run "dir" to list your user directory. You will have either Anaconda, Anaconda2, or Anaconda3. To remove it I believe this works on most versions of Windows, be sure to put the correct Anaconda name you found from "dir".

    rmdir /s Anaconda

After this you should be able to reinstall. As for the anti-virus you will need to tell the software to allow the Anaconda application or ipython you want to use. As far as how to do this I am not certain as I do not know what anti-virus you are using.
