I downloaded Anaconda 4.0 with all the PyQt4 packages, but there doesn't seem to be a way to use the designer. If I download the whole Qt package, which will come with the designer, will it cause confusion with the Qt packages I already have installed in the Anaconda directory?

I'm on Mac OS X El Capitan

I posted this question on stack overflow but it has thus far been ignored

Worth noting that there is an icon in /anaconda/pkgs/qt-4.8.7-1/bin called Designer but double clicking it just gives an error saying it can't run.
Also, this is the stack overflow post

On my Mac, that application does work.  Nonetheless, maybe you should try installing Qt to an environment, and then open designer from there:

conda create -n test-qt4 pyqt
open /miniconda/envs/test-qt4/bin/Designer.app

I'm not sure if that will make a difference, though.  What is the error that pops up when you try to open Designer?  Does the OS X "Console" app have any useful output?

From double clicking the icon I get the rather unhelpful
"Designer cannot be opened because of a problem".

Haven't tried opening it from the console yet. I shall try that when I am home

I wasn't referring to the 'teminal' app.  Double-click the Designer.app icon, and then open /Applications/Utilities/Console.app and look at the last few log messages.  Maybe they contain a more useful error message (or maybe not).

Sorry, it doesn't mean much to me, either.  I'm out of ideas.  If anyone else is reading this thread, it would be interesting to know whether or not Anaconda's Qt Designer.app works on their Mac.  It works on mine...

I'm on OS X 10.11.5, the most recent version, so maybe its a compatibility thing? Or maybe I should try uninstalling and reinstalling anaconda? Ive tried running all the updates on anaconda and that didn't help...

What version of Anaconda and OS X are you running?

Ok update... I deleted the anaconda directory and reinstalled it and now everything is working fine :)

Sorry for my late answer but I've tried on OS 10.11.5 with anaconda and this works fine for me.
