This was the first time I was interviewed for a podcast. It is finally up for listening! A promotion for my book The Watkins Book of Urban Legends along with a give and take conversation with the host Janine Mercer.

Thanks Virginia for the nudge to post it on the listserv.

Thanks for the post, Gail.

I was wondering about gaining access to it. When I clicked onto the URL, a message popped up saying that I had to log-in in order to listen to topics with explicit content. Was this message a mistake? If I need to log in, is there a work-around that allows me to listen to it without logging into the system? I worry about being Spammed and having way too many suggestions based on my browsing history.

I also wanted to mention that I used the book in an intro to folklore class. It went well. The book’s orientation for non-specialized audiences worked well for undergraduates. It can be tricky to find good scholarship in folklore that works well in these kinds of classes as the more arcane treatments are a challenge for many of them to read … let alone understand. The Watkins book gave good texts and good context, and I was able to connect the interests in legends with various themes in the textbook that I used.
