I've received word that candidates with a social science background are welcome to apply for this ZSL fellowship. Looks like a great opportunity for researchers/practitioners from the Asia & Pacific Islands regions engaged in human dimensions of wildlife work. See details below.

Best,

Matthew

Dear ICCS family,

I am pleased to announce that ZSL’s EDGE of Existence Programme is now accepting applications for 2022-2024 EDGE Fellowships from Asia & Pacific region islands. We would be very grateful if you would forward this email to any of your contacts that may be able to help promote the call or any individuals that may be interested in applying.

For the first time our curated list also includes both fish and gymnosperm species, along with amphibians, birds, reptiles, mammals and sharks/rays. A full list of eligible species and the Fellowship advert are attached. For more information please visit: www.edgeofexistence.org/apply-now

The EDGE Fellowship

ZSL’s EDGE of Existence programme is the only global conservation initiative focusing specifically on threatened species that represent a significant amount of unique evolutionary history. One of the most effective ways in which the programme is working to secure the future of EDGE species is by awarding two-year Fellowships to future conservation leaders, EDGE Fellows, working on poorly-known EDGE species. EDGE Fellows follow a comprehensive two-year training programme, comprising of:

  • A 4-week Conservation Tools training course at the beginning of the programme to provide Fellows with essential training in techniques to plan and implement their project;
  • A grant of £10,000 to undertake a 2-year project on an eligible EDGE species;
  • Ongoing technical support and mentorship (achieved via online modules, web-based tutorials/seminars, and field visits) throughout the Fellowship;
  • A 2-week Conservation Leadership training course in London to support Fellows to scale up their projects

The application deadline is 18th July 2021All applications will be reviewed by a panel of internal and external experts.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or have any recommendations of organisations/individuals for us to contact.

Thank you!
