Dear all,

We are pleased to announce the 3rd edition of the course Art (Science) Attack, which will take place online from 25–28 May.

Although science and art are often viewed as separate disciplines, both rely heavily on creativity. This course explores how visual thinking can enhance scientific communication, from designing clear figures and schematics to developing engaging visuals for conferences, publications, and public outreach.

Using open-source tools such as Krita and Inkscape, participants will learn practical skills including:

  • Sketching and planning scientific visuals
  • Designing colorblind-friendly and effective graphics
  • Creating project mascots, stickers, and logos
  • Producing journal figures, schematics, and posters
  • Translating research into engaging visual stories

The course is intended for researchers, students, and anyone interested in improving science communication through visual design. No prior artistic experience is required—just bring your ideas, figures, or projects you would like to develop.

More details are available on our website: https://www.physalia-courses.org/courses-workshops/art-science-attack/

We look forward to welcoming you to this creative and practical training.

Best regards,

Carlo
