Call for Nominations to Serve on the Board of the Society for Conservation Biology - Oceania Region

Nominations are due by 24 May 2024

Nominations are now open for the Society for Conservation Biology Oceania Region Board of Directors. In 2024, SCBO has two board director vacancies - a Member-at-Large + Web Officer position and a Member-at-Large – Pacific Islands position.

We also invite board members whose three-year terms have ended to renominate if they would like to serve an additional term on the board.

Successful candidates will serve a 3 year term.

If you know of someone who would be a good candidate for one of these positions (self-nominations are welcome) please submit one of the following:

Please email your completed application form to elec...@scboceania.org no later than 24 May, 2024. If you have any questions please contact ad...@scboceania.org.

Please check that you meet all of the required criteria outlined in the position description before applying. Applicants who do not meet the required criteria will not progress to the ballot.

New board members will be elected through a ballot of our members which will run in June.

Nominees must be members in good standing with the Society for Conservation Biology as well members of the Oceania Region, and must be willing to run for election before the deadline. If you nominate someone other than yourself, please do so early enough that their acceptance can be requested before the deadline. You can check the status of your membership, and/or join the Oceania Region here.

SCB Oceania strives to be inclusive and welcoming of diversity in all its forms, and to foster a shared vision for the development of a diverse membership and leadership. The ability to participate and attain leadership in SCB Oceania should not be restricted to groups that are historically well represented in the field, and we welcome Board nominations from all locations within Oceania, all career stages, sectors and fields, all backgrounds, cultures, genders and sexual orientations.

Further details on the board and elections process can be found in our constitution.

Best of luck to all nominees!
