LAST CALL TO SIGN SCIENTISTS LETTER:

I'm writing to invite scientists here to join as signatories on a scientist letter calling our representatives to maintain a strong Endangered Species Act (ESA). The letter is coauthored by conservation scientists and experts such as Dr. Leah Gerber, Dr. David Wilcove, Dr. Tom Sisk and members of the 50 Voices for Endangered Species.

As you all know, for over 50 years, the ESA has served as a bedrock environmental statute, grounded in scientific rigor and ecological understanding. At a time of unprecedented ecological disruption, it also remains one of the most vital and effective tools we have to safeguard wildlife. Unfortunately, the ESA is now under attack in a hostile administration and Congress. For example, the Trump Administration’s just released a devastating set of anti-science, anti-wildlife regulations that will significantly weaken the Endangered Species Act, potentially dooming several imperiled species to extinction. It has never been more critical for scientists to urge policymakers to reaffirm the national commitment to protecting species from extinction!

To read the letter and fill out the form to sign onto the scientist letter, please use this website: Scientists' Call on Congress to Commit to Preventing Extinction, Safeguarding the ESA | Center for Conservation Innovation. Note that you as an individual will be signing, not your org, but you will be prompted to state your organization for verification.

Please also forward this email to other scientists who may also be interested in signing or share the website URL by TOMORROW AM 9:30 AM ET. Your involvement will help convey a strong, unified message from scientists to policy leaders about the importance of a strong ESA.

If you decide to sign on, it will only take around 5 minutes or less but have an outsized impact. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your consideration!

Best,
Cassie Ferri
