Hello, everyone!

It's never been more important for academics to break out of the ivory tower and engage with the public, defending the importance of what we do and why it should be supported and funded.

To that end, I am pleased to offer an online, take-at-your-own-pace masterclass in online public science engagement through the Center for Wildlife Studies. (Though many of the examples focus on wildlife ecology and conservation, the principles are broadly applicable for any field of science).

You can take this class for university transfer credit (it transfers as one elective credit,) for CPE credit, or just to learn something.

It starts with basic principles of communicating science to non-expert audiences, highlights leading social media and blogging tools, and provides advanced tips and tricks. There are case studies of successful and unsuccessful attempts throughout.

The course also includes a project which I will help you with, and this project can be something related to your real-world science communication needs.

Book before August 9th and you can save $75.

Please forward to interested colleagues and students, and please let me know if anyone has any questions.
