SCBMarine Policy on fossil fuel industry / unpaid internships

Dear SCB Marine members and affiliates, 

Last week, we inadvertently shared an email advertising internships with BP. We sincerely apologize and acknowledge that this was an oversight on our part. 

The Society for Conservation Biology Marine Program has a strong policy not to endorse or support the fossil fuel/oil industry in any way, including marketing and communications regarding jobs/internships in the sector. 

Further, SCBMarine also does not endorse or support communications regarding unpaid internships in any sector. 

Please do not share such communications with us and if sent, we will not be sharing these 

with our membership.

Admirable. It’s hard when you bump into ethical dilemmas. You are trying hard to help folks yet run across such things. Good for the Society to be taking a stand.
