International Congress for Conservation Biology
ICCB 2025 | 15-19 June, 2025 | Meanjin/Brisbane, Australia
Call for Abstracts Deadline Approaching: 21 February, 2025
The deadline to submit abstracts for oral and speed talks and poster presentations in contributed sessions at the 32nd International Congress for Conservation Biology (ICCB 2025) is 21 February, 2025.
Visit the ICCB 2025 Sessions page for more information, including details about the ICCB one talk one poster rule, and to access the ICCB Submission Site.
Submitting an abstract for an oral or speed talk or poster presentation at ICCB 2025 offers conservation professionals, students and researchers a unique platform to share groundbreaking ideas and research, collaborate with global peers, and impact the future of conservation science. Presenting at ICCB can amplify your work to a diverse audience of scientists, practitioners, and policymakers, sparking collaborations that can lead to impactful conservation solutions.
If you are an invited speaker in an accepted symposium (i.e. a symposium organizer has personally invited you to give a talk in their symposium), you have until 1 April to submit your abstract for your invited talk. Please note that this is an extended deadline, decoupled from the deadline noted above for oral and speed talks and poster presentations in contributed sessions.
ICCB 2025 will feature more than 140 sessions during the main scientific program, including symposia, contributed sessions, plenary talks, and lunchtime meetings as well as dozens of pre-and post congress workshops, training courses, and forums.

ICCB Abstract Submissions and USA Funding Uncertainty
We recognize that the current uncertainty regarding funding in the USA is creating uncertainty for some people planning to attend ICCB. We encourage all interested participants to submit abstracts, even if their ability to attend remains uncertain. Abstract submissions help us gauge conference size and advocate for additional travel support where possible.
Participants can confirm participation via early bird registration (15 April), when hopefully the situation becomes clearer. While we must maintain abstract and registration deadlines for financial and logistical reasons, we are actively exploring ways to support impacted participants, including potential fundraising efforts.
We appreciate your engagement and look forward to a diverse and inclusive ICCB.

Enhancing Language Inclusivity at ICCB with Free Academic Proofreading
ICCB is thrilled to partner with Writefull to offer delegates a quick and efficient proofreading service for their abstracts.
This collaboration underscores our commitment to the linguistic and cultural diversity of ICCB participants, helping facilitate a rich exchange of diverse ideas, knowledge, and expertise in biodiversity conservation. Learn more about our ICCB 2025 Language Accessibility Committee's initiatives and philosophy here.

Abstract Deadline for Invited Speakers
The deadline for invited speakers to submit and link their abstracts to their respective symposium has been extended to 1 April 2025. This extension separates the submission deadline for invited speakers from the upcoming submission deadline for oral and speed talks and poster presentations in contributed sessions (21 February). We hope the extra time for invited speakers and their symposium organizers is helpful.

Flights to Brisbane
The best time to buy tickets to Australia for travel in June is typically 3 to 6 months in advance, so make sure to start looking for flights and consider buying soon. This gives you a good chance of securing lower fares before prices rise closer to the departure date.
Also, keeping an eye out for sales like the one Qantas is running can help you get even better deals.
|
ICCB for All
We aim to promote an inclusive ICCB 2025 with diverse and equitable participation, and thus contribute to advancing justice in conservation science, policy and practice more broadly.
Efforts include reducing language barriers for diverse linguistic backgrounds and providing an accessible environment for all attendees, including an Indigenous Space and a Quiet Space. The initiative also includes a code of conduct to promote a safe and welcoming atmosphere for participants. Contact officers and the ICCB Safety Officer, Josephine Mitchell, will be available to address concerns. For more information, visit the ICCB For All page.

Our Host City: Meanjin/Brisbane, Australia
SCB and SCB Oceania are excited to welcome ICCB attendees to the capital city of Queensland, Meanjin/Brisbane. The city Brisbane is situated on the Brisbane River, flanked by the Ramsar Wetland of Moreton Bay, and has a thriving cultural scene with numerous art galleries, theatres and museums.
Meanjin/Brisbane is also known for its beautiful green spaces, like the City Botanic Gardens. Brisbane's winter climate is generally dry and mild, which makes ICCB a great time to explore the nearby subtropical rainforest of Lamington and Mount Glorious, bike around the city, or explore islands around Moreton Bay like North Stradbroke, which has a daily ferry from the mainland.
Queensland is Australia’s most biodiverse state with habitats that range from lowland tropical rainforest to heathlands, eucalypt and acacia woodlands, tropical grasslands, and deserts. Brisbane is in the middle of the “Forests of East Australia” global biodiversity hotspot with narrow range endemics such as Albert’s lyrebird, black-breasted buttonquail and paradise riflebird, the original macadamia species, innumerable orchids, over 100 species of frog, koala, platypus, echidna, gliders and many macropods. Meanjin/Brisbane is even home to a megapode that is a garden pest! In Moreton Bay there are several mangrove species, dolphins, dugongs, humpback whales and abundant shorebirds, while the Great Barrier Reef is accessible by driving a few hours north.
We hope to see you there!
