Hi Everyone,

In addition to the symposium that the IEWG is putting together for ICCB 2025, we are also considering organising a lunchtime Forum.

An ICCB Forum aims to "bring together people with diverse expertise to develop tangible and actionable outputs — such as a list of recommendations, a publication, a policy briefing or a white paper  — on a specific conservation issue."

The IEWG has come up with three major topics of interest that we could focus on for a Forum. However, we would like your feedback about which of these topics, if any, you would be interested in contributing towards. We're also completely open to new suggestions!

If you are planning to attend ICCB 2025, and would be interested in contributing towards a forum organised by the IEWG, please leave your feedback here: https://forms.gle/2dWoEkwZaUdtJaZu9

If you do not have access to Google forms, or prefer not to use it, then please just email tanya...@gmail.com with responses to the questions below.

Many thanks!
Tanya

1. Below we present 3 possible Forum topics that the IEWG could focus on. Looking at these options, which of these Fora would you be most likely to attend and actively contribute towards?
  • a) Opportunities and challenges in using Al and machine learning to support the production, synthesis and/or dissemination of robust conservation evidence
  • b) How to align conservation funding priorities with the need for robust couterfactual evidence for effective policy?
  • c). How to improve the external validity of counterfactual estimates in conservation, for more effective and impactful conservation strategies?
  • d) none of the above interest me

2. Please describe how you might contribute towards organisation, management or coordination of outputs from this session (skip if you selected d)

3. Are there any other topics that you would be particularly interested in, and that you would contribute towards? Please describe any other topics of interest in as much detail as possible, and how you would contribute towards organisation, management or coordination of outputs from this session
