to Impact Evaluation Working Group
Dear Counterfactual community,
We are preparing for the upcoming Africa Congress for Conservation Biology (ACCB) taking placeat the University of Lagos, Nigeria, from 31 August - 4 September, 2026. The theme of the conference is: Embracing Indigenous Solutions and Strengthening Policies for Conserving Africa’s Biodiversity in a Changing Climate.
The SCB Impact Evaluation Working Group is submitting a proposal for a symposium titled (provisionally) "Evaluating the impacts of conservation actions on biodiversity outcomes in Africa". We are seeking presentations of recent research evaluating conservation interventions through a robust impact evaluation approach. Applied and perspective-type contributions are both welcome. The aim is to stimulate critical discussions on how to increase uptake of conservation impact evaluation across the continent, and the ways in which novel data, technologies and methods can support these efforts.
Talks will be 12 minutes long, each followed by a 3-minute Q&A, with time for a 15-minute general discussion period at the end. We will select 5 presentations for a 1.5 hour standard symposium. For more details see: https://conbio.org/mini-sites/accb-2026/
If you're interested in presenting your work in the symposium, please send a title, draft abstract, and list of authors to claireloui...@uniroma1.itbefore 27th March as the deadline for submitting the symposium proposal is the end of this month.
