Dear Counterfactual community,
The IEWG are in Kathmandu and the conference is getting off to a great start! We have lots of activities going on:
Today we hosted had a full day of workshops with Arcus Foundation partners who are doing amazing work on ape and gibbon conservation.
Tomorrow (Wednesday 13:30-15:00), I'm incredibly excited to be sharing the podium with Julia P G Jones to give a joint plenary session on causal inference in conservation and how AI can support impact evaluations.
Thursday (11:00-12:30), the IEWG is hosting a Symposium titled "Evaluating the Impacts of Conservation on Biodiversity and Human Wellbeing in Asia" awith a fantastic line-up of speakers including Paul Hasan Thung Benjamin Chipperfield Avantika Thapa Aditya Malgaonkar Alex Caruana and myself.
🎉 **NEW event: we are also having a social get-together on Thursday at 6:30pm for drinks and food at a location (tbc) near the conference venue. Unfortunately the IEWG cannot cover food or drinks, so food and drinks are buy-your-own 😊 But please come by to meet other folks interested in impact evaluation!
Please do reach out to us, we love to chat all things counterfactual!
Best,
Tanya and the IEWG team
