Dear SCB Colleagues,

We’re excited to announce the launch of our latest online training programme: the Certificate in Rewilding – developed by Conservation Careers to provide a practical, accessible introduction to this rapidly evolving field.

Rewilding is increasingly shaping conservation practice globally, offering a hopeful, action-oriented approach to restoring biodiversity and ecological function. This short course (6–10 hours, self-paced) is grounded in sector best practices and global frameworks developed by leaders, including Rewilding Europe, Rewilding Britain, and the IUCN.

About the course

By the end of the training, learners will be able to:

  • Understand what rewilding is – and how it differs from traditional conservation.
  • Explore the global principles and ethics that underpin the movement.
  • Examine case studies such as wolves in Yellowstone and wild horses in Europe.
  • Evaluate the ecological, social, and economic trade-offs of rewilding.
  • Gain insight into planning and monitoring rewilding efforts using trusted frameworks.
  • Identify their own role – as a student, practitioner, landholder or advocate.

This new course includes assessed quizzes and a Certificate of Achievement, allowing learners to demonstrate their understanding and add formal, accredited training in rewilding to their CVs and portfolios.

Who it’s for

This course is suitable for:

  • Career switchers entering the conservation sector
  • Early-career conservationists and students
  • Mid-career professionals expanding their skills
  • Landholders and community advocates interested in nature recovery

Enrolment now open

The course is currently available at a 33% launch discount until Friday, 31st October 2025.
