As the socio-political landscape in the U.S. continues to rapidly evolve, many conservation social scientists across academic, industry, and government sectors are struggling to navigate this sea of change, particularly in the state of Florida. This is why we are announcing a new symposium dedicated to researchers working in the human dimensions of natural resources in Florida!
The People and Nature Symposium will take place in Gainesville, Florida, February 10-11, 2026. Organized by social scientists from the University of Florida (UF/IFAS), Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Tampa Bay Estuary Program (TBEP), and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), this symposium will bring together researchers across the state to showcase social science work happening in our region, build new connections and partnerships, and maybe even have a little fun in these challenging times.

webpage to learn more about the symposium's vision, program agenda, accomodation, and registration details.
