People are vital to conservation.

Conservation challenges cannot be solved without the evidence of people.

However, organisations are rarely set up to integrate people evidence into conservation projects.

Social science is a key source of people evidence. Yet is often misunderstood and undervalued. It can be seen as a “nice to have” rather than an essential.

I frequently meet individuals who are working hard to change this. They are the Social Science Catalysts encouraging their colleagues and networks to value people evidence . This might include making the case for valuing people in conservation, busting myths about social science or reassuring sceptics that qualitative methods are valid research tools.

It can be an exciting but also tiring role.

But is a much needed role – if this is you, please keep going!

But I also invite you to seek out support so you’re not alone.

I mentor and train people like you. And I’d like to invite you to join me for a new opportunity.

In February 2025 I’ll run a Catalyst Taster session which will provide you with:

💛 Support from an experienced social science leader to help you identify how you can accelerate change in your organisation (that’s me!)
💛 Connection with others who share your ambitions – and challenges and understand the highs and lows of being a social science catalyst
💛 Protected time to think about what you need to do next. Giving time to those important but not urgent ideas
💛 Training on social science foundations for you or a colleague to help you make the case for more people evidence

This online taster session will include:
▶️ a one day workshop for a small group of Catalysts focused on helping you overcome some of the key challenges you’re facing
▶️ a one hour one to one mentoring call with me to help you with any specific areas you’re working on
▶️ one place on the Essentials of Conservation Social Science online course in 2025 – either for you or for a colleague to help build social science understanding.

This will run on Thursday 6th February 2024, 9:30am to 4:30pm (GMT – London) and is £395.

🌎 If there is enough interest from people in North/South American time zones I will run the course the following week at a suitable time for those locations – so let me know if you’re in that part of the world and keen to attend.

To book your place please email me reb...@humannature.co.uk with a few details about why this course is right for you.

I’d love to help you take your next steps in leading social science change in your organisation.
