National Sustainability Society Announces the Call for Symposia Proposals

This year’s NSS Annual Conference theme is Courage, Credibility, and Collective Action — and we invite you to join us to help shape the conversation. This moment calls for bold thinking and action! Our open symposia are opportunities to invite multiple individual voices to come together on a topic or theme that advances sustainability in any way.

Our 3rd Annual Conference will be held at Colorado State University - Spur Campus in Denver, Colorado, August 17 - 19, 2026.

Now more than ever, progress depends on sustainability thinkers, professionals, and leaders who are willing to stand up with courage, build trust through credibility, and move forward together through collective action. If you have symposium topics that can bring together case studies, research, or stories that challenge the status quo and inspire meaningful change, we want to hear from you.

Do you have an idea for…

  • collecting research insights that can spark action on a challenge or within a sector?

  • common lessons learned across organizations acting and leading through uncertainty?

  • innovative or collaborative approaches that made a real impact?

Submit your ideas for open symposia and be part of a program that informs, inspires, and drives change. Cross-sector, transdisciplinary, and innovative topics are especially welcome. Accepted symposia will be published in the next call inviting individual contributions, Feb 24 - March 31.
