Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to share our recently published research article in Journal of International Wildlife Law and Policy.

"From Attitudes to Actions: Bridging Conservation Planning Framework, Theory of Planned Behaviour and Social Values to Protect Charismatic Freshwater Fishes, the Mahseer"

The paper is available at the following link: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/13880292.2026.2666482

This paper presents a novel approach that integrates behaviour change theories and social values towards wildlife (here mahseer fishes), into conservation planning. The integrated CPF–TPB–SV framework was applied to examine the socio-cultural, value-based, and psychological drivers shaping multi-stakeholder attitudes and behaviours across three Indian states.

I hope this paper contributes meaningfully to advancing the integration of individual and collective human attitudes and behaviour in environmental and conservation decision-making. It particularly seeks to inform behaviour change approaches for bio-economic species living in human-dominated landscapes, whose survival and well-being are closely intertwined with human societies.

Additionally, I would also like to share another of our papers, published in 2024 in Aquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems.

"Insights on the Distribution, Catch and Release and Public Sentiment towards Recreational Angling of Mahseers - A Study of YouTube Videos from India"

The paper can be accessed using the following link: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/aqc.4176

This study explores the emerging fields of iEcology and Conservation Culturomics, which use publicly available internet and social media data to generate ecological insights and understand stakeholder and public behaviours and perceptions. Using mahseer recreational angling YouTube videos from India, the paper highlights the potential of digital data sources in freshwater conservation research.

Thank you

Sincerely,
Prantik
