Hi all,

Would you be interested in discussing participatory mapping and its implications for traditional and scientific knowledge and collaborations with me? Do you have experience or insights on the use of participatory mapping in conservation involving Indigenous Peoples and local communities? If so, I would love to hear your views and invaluable insights.

My name is Yasmin, a master's student in Biodiversity, Conservation, and Management at the University of Oxford. For my dissertation, supervised by Helen Newing, Stephanie Brittain and Tom Rowley, I am exploring the impact of participatory mapping on scientific and traditional knowledge. Digital mapping tools (PGIS, Mapeo, etc) are often used to help share knowledge about land, nature, and culture, especially between scientists and communities with traditional knowledge. However, the impacts of such digital mapping tools on knowledge systems, as well as the consequences and best practices that can be drawn, require further investigation.

To explore this further, I am seeking individuals like yourself with expert knowledge and experience who would be interested in chatting with me via a semi-structured interview (approximately 30 minutes online or in-person). If this sounds interesting to you, please reach out to me at oxfd...@ox.ac.uk. I will be conducting interviews until July 20th.

If you have any further questions, please reach out or forward this to those who may be interested.

I look forward to speaking with you!

Yas
