The Human Dimensions of Fisheries and Wildlife lab at Oregon State University is seeking an outstanding MS student to contribute to applied research on the factors influencing support for floodplain restoration activities in the Puget Sound of Washington State. The student will be partially funded by an EPA grant to work with the Puget Sound Partnership (4 terms) and partially funded as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (4 terms). The student will be expected to play an active roll in community-based collaborative research and project management.
Start date: January of 2025
Funding: 1 year of RA (4 terms) and 1 year of TA (4 terms) that covers tuition, benefits and stipend (~$1800/month)
Expectations:
· Design and conduct original, empirical research on community values and fears around floodplain restoration in the Puget Sound
· Work with existing regional collaborators as well as the Human Dimensions lab to design and conduct research
· Teach one E-Campus course per term of GTA in Communications or Multicultural Perspectives in Natural Resource Management
· Co-author ~1 manuscript every two years with Dr. Biedenweg
· Submit proposals to obtain addition research funding support
· Follow departmental guidelines to meet graduation requirements in about 2 years
· Conduct field research in the Puget Sound region
