Serve on the Freshwater Working Group Board of Directors
Make a difference in conservation, gain critical leadership skills and boost your resume!

Dear Friends,

We've extended the deadline to submit nominations to serve on the board of directors of the Society for Conservation Biology’s Freshwater Working Group (FWWG)!

The new deadline to submit nominations is Monday, 2 October 2017 .

The open positions are:

- Members-at-Large (5 seats)
- President-elect

This is a great opportunity to make a difference in conservation by developing leadership skills, advancing projects to conserve freshwater ecosystems, network with leaders in the field, and boost your resume.

The Freshwater Working Group values the many perspectives that arise from a variety of cultures, races, gender, religions, national origins, ages, physical and cognitive capabilities, sexual orientations, and other ways we identify ourselves. We seek candidates from all backgrounds and experience levels.

The member-at-large seats are to be represented by SCB members, with preference given to members who reside in our Africa, Asia, or LACA sections. The seat for president-elect is open to any SCB member. All seats are open for two-year terms beginning 1 January 2018.

For the five at-large seats we are seeking members with experience and interest in:

- leading initiatives that both reward and create opportunities for students or early career researchers;
- leading group communications and outreach; or
- leading global freshwater conservation projects.

How to Submit a Nomination
If you believe that you are a good candidate for one of these positions and that you are willing to participate in at least four Skype meetings per year, and one in person meeting every two years (at biennial ICCB meetings), please follow these steps to complete a self-nomination.

- Download the Freshwater Working Group Board Nomination Form [ http://conbio.informz.net/CONBIO/data/images/Elections/FWWG/FFWG%202017%20Elections%20Board%20Nomination%20Form_new_deadline.doc ]
- Complete the "Nominee's Information" portion on the bottom half of the form
- Return the completed form by e-mail on or before 2 October to the FWWG Board at stephi...@gmail.com [ mailto:stephi...@gmail.com ] .

Please use “Freshwater Working Group Elections" in the email subject and be sure to state which position that the nomination is for.

All nominees must be SCB members in good standing.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Januchowski-Hartley, Ph.D.
President, SCB Freshwater Working Group
