I am writing to make sure you received the announcement about an
exciting opportunity related to our consensus study report entitled
Communicating Science Effectively: A Research Agenda
<https://www.nap.edu/catalog/23674/communicating-science-effectively-a-research-agenda>
.

With support from the Rita Allen Foundation, the National Academy of
Sciences is pleased to offer two awards of $37,500 each to support the
formation and development of collaborative science communication
researcher-practitioner partnerships. These awards are intended to
facilitate the efforts of science communication researchers and
practitioners to plan collaborative projects that pursue shared research
interests aligned with the report. Those receiving awards will present
details about their collaborations at a special session of the Arthur M.
Sackler Colloquium on the Science of Science Communication III
<http://www.nasonline.org/programs/sackler-colloquia/upcoming-colloquia/Science_Communication_III.html>
to be held on November 16-17, 2017. Additional support for the
Colloquium is provided by the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the
University of Pennsylvania and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund.

All of the details related to the call for proposals for these
partnership awards and the colloquium agenda can be found at the
colloquium website
<http://www.nasonline.org/programs/sackler-colloquia/upcoming-colloquia/Science_Communication_III.html>.
Proposals are due June 1, 2017 with awards made in July 2017.

*Colloquium registration** *will open on May 8, 2017. Sign up to receive
an announcement <https://emailssc3.eventbrite.com/> and link for online
registration.

We have received enthusiastic responses to the report so far, and are
hoping that this will be a productive step in building the capacity to
address important challenges in science communication. We hope that you
will consider applying or sharing this information with researchers and
practitioners who you believe would be interested in applying for these
awards.

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like additional
information.

Best,

Marty
