Hi Everyone!
First and foremost, a huge CONGRATULATIONS to everyone for your absolutely wonderful performances at Stonewall Pride last Saturday and at the American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA) Conference on Wednesday! Both Robert and I have received so many positive comments from both audiences praising our exceptional level of playing, our positive message, and our overall "whole package." You all truly shone, and we could not be prouder of what we accomplished together.
On a personal note, I want to express how incredibly excited I am to officially take over as the lead Artistic Director of the Columbus Pride Bands. This group means so much to me, and I cannot wait to carry on the musical excellence and the vital safe space we have created together.
As we look toward the future, our first order of business will be selecting music for our next concert, and hopefully mapping out themes for both our fall and spring seasons. To get the ball rolling, we will be holding two Artistic Advisory Committee meetings, and I would love for you to join:
First Meeting: Tuesday, July 7 from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Second Meeting: Sunday, July 26 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location (for both): Merion Village Info Center Event Space (1330 S. Fourth St.). There is ample FREE street parking!
Please feel free to bring your own snacks and beverages to the meetings!
Also, make sure your calendars are marked for one last important date reminder: our Annual Picnic on Saturday, August 15 at 4:00 PM. All band members are invited to attend, so please save the date! Be on the lookout for more details to come.
Lastly, please be on the lookout for upcoming information regarding Wind Ensemble Assessments. ANYONE who is interested is highly encouraged to submit an assessment! Full details and information will be sent out no later than July 11.
For now, please enjoy a well-deserved, small respite from the band. I am so looking forward to everything that is to come!
