Dear colleagues,
Did you know that the University Libraries are actively collecting comics and graphic novels, both online and in print? As you prepare for spring semester, consider exploring these resources:
Comics Plus Complete Collection: Comics Plus provides access to thousands of popular digital comics, manga and picture books from dozens of publishers including Dark Horse, Image Comics, IDW, Kodansha, Yen Press, and more. Every title is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on your computer, tablet or phone—no holds or wait lists required. To access, visit our Comics Plus access guide, create an account and start browsing. You can also add the Comics Plus app to your phone or tablet by downloading it from the App Store or Google Play.
Underground and Independent Comics, Comix, and Graphic Novels: This collection contains adult comic books and graphic novels with 200,000 pages of original material alongside interviews, commentary, criticism and other supporting materials. It also includes much of The Comics Journal, a source for comics news and opinion since 1977, and Comic Book Artist, a multi-Eisner Award winner for Best Comics-Related Magazine, as well as many titles from EC Comics.
World of Archie Comics: Archie Comics is one of the longest-running, best-known comic staples, spanning the early 1940s to 2020. Alongside the flagship title, Archie, other prominent titles include Sabrina: The Teenage Witch, Josie and the Pussycats, Betty & Veronica and Jughead, as well as many of their lesser known superhero and humor comics.
Many of the comics from the Underground and Archie comics collections are complete scans of single issues that feature editorial and advertising content not available in any collections.
Prefer physical comics? Check out the PN6700 - 6790 call number range located on floor 3C of Norlin. Manga in Japanese and other Asian languages and other material related to comics in Asia are in the Asian Studies Collection on the 2nd floor of Norlin. Want something added to the collection? Suggest a title and we may purchase it for the library.
Please be in touch if you have questions about accessing these resources!
Best,
