Apply for DOJ Funding—Step 1: Grants.gov
Grants.gov is where you’ll complete the first step to apply for Department of Justice (DOJ) funding.

  • Register and Confirm User Roles: Every person who uses Grants.gov to apply for a grant must have an active Grants.gov account. Certain roles/privileges are required to work on and submit applications.
  • Create a Workspace: Select a funding opportunity and click “Apply” to create a unique workspace tied to that funding opportunity.
  • Complete the Application for Federal Assistance (SF-424): Complete the online form within the workspace. (You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed to open the form offline.)
  • Sign and Submit: Only a user with the Authorized Organization Representative role can “Sign and Submit” the application in Grants.gov.

For assistance with technical issues in Grants.gov, visit the Grants.gov Support Center online or contact the Grants.gov Help Desk at 800-518-4726 or sup...@grants.gov.

Visit the Application Submission Training page on the JustGrants Resources website for tips on submitting your application in Grants.gov.

You must have an active registration in SAM.gov before you can apply in  Grants.gov. If you’ve used either system in the past, you still need to ensure your registration and users are current. For assistance with technical issues, visit the SAM.gov Help Desk (Federal Service Desk) online.
