Good morning, folks.

It's National Chocolate Covered Anything Day, which reminds me of the many chocolate options at the Denver Christkindlmarket. Chocolate sculptures? Check. Chocolate fountain? Check. Hot chocolate? Check.

Now, let's get to the news.

Denver council rejects city contract with Key Lime Air over role in ICE detainee flights

The Denver City Council rejected a contract with Colorado-based airline Key Lime Air on Monday over the company’s work helping carry out President Donald Trump’s mass-deportation efforts.

The denial won’t affect the company’s ability to fly in and out of Centennial Airport in the south suburbs, however, or to continue its work for the federal government.

The rejected contract would have allowed Key Lime Air, which has operated charter services in Colorado since at least 2006, to use 1,200 square feet of storage space at Denver International Airport, said airport spokesman George Karayiannakis.

22-year-old driver in fatal school bus crash in Lakewood reached 91 mph, affidavit states

The 22-year-old driver accused of crashing into a school bus carrying a Grand Junction high school wrestling team in Lakewood and causing the death of an 18-year-old passenger had no valid license, reached speeds up to 91 mph, and initially refused to answer police agents’ questions in the wreck, according to an arrest affidavit.

Denver resident Andrew Logan Miller, who has been arrested and faces multiple reckless vehicular assault and other charges, “was very escalated” and asked “‘What happened?’” and “ ‘Who did I hit?'” according to a Lakewood Police arrest affidavit in the Dec. 6 crash.

Miller also told police at the scene that “‘I knew this would happen,’ ” and that “’I had a dream about this,’ ” the affidavit said, noting Miller had extricated himself from the driver’s seat and was on the ground, unable to move because of a leg injury.

What I'm Enjoying Lately

  • 📚 "This is Not a Game" by Kelly Mullen — Ever heard of a cozy mystery? That's the perfect description for this snowed-in murder mystery that brings grandma and granddaughter together. A cozy, quick read you can get through between holiday celebrations.
  • 🌮 Tacos Chano — If you ever find yourself in the insane line at the Southeast DMV branch, this taco spot can and will revive you. These tasty tacos, especially the al pastor, plus a DIY toppings bar saved my soul after hours of waiting.
  • 🎄 Denver Christkindlmarket — It's become an annual tradition among friends to visit the market, drink Glühwein, eat pierogies and scope out the perfect local gifts and stocking stuffers like roasted nuts, candles, glass ornaments, hot sauces and more. Don't let the new location deter you; the market is peak Denver holiday fun.

Song of the Day

Song:I Feel Pretty

Artist: King Princess

Sounds like: A moody, indie song that scratches my brain in the best way. That guitar solo to end it out? Love.
