Dear Mr. Burlingame, Mr. Richard, Mr. Harrington, Mr. Abarca, Mr. Rahner, Mr. Belcher, Mr. Paulson, and Ms. Hixson,

Dear Mr. Burlingame,

Thank you for bringing this situation to our attention.  We are sorry about the impact of these weather events on your businesses.  However, the Larimer County Board of County Commissioners do not have any oversight or authority to regulate when power is delivered or not.  We do work in partnership with Xcel Energy under many circumstances including disaster preparedness and recovery and understand that Xcel Energy experienced significant damages during the last wind event.  They are working on infrastructure solutions to further minimize any outages that may occur in the future.  We have visited with Hans Rodvik who is the Area Manager for Community Relations and Local Government Affairs and encourage you and other business owners to work directly with him regarding your particular circumstances. He is copied on this email. Here is his contact information:

Good afternoon all,

Commissioner Shadduck-McNally, thank you for the message. We do not take these events lightly, and know how impactful they are to our customers, residents, businesses, and communities. We are constantly working to make our system more resilient and reduce the impact these Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events have on our customers.

To the business owners impacted by the recent PSPS events in December and January, I would be happy to meet with you all to hear your concerns. Our mutual friend, Ann Hutchinson with the Fort Collins Chamber, reached out to me about your concerns late last week.

May I suggest we coordinate through her to set up an in-person meeting in the coming weeks?

I will send a separate email with Ann to coordinate with you.

Thank you for your patience and I look forward to working with you all.
