I have served in Colorado since graduating from Notre Dame in 1978 (geriatrics, hospice, board positions, etc). I had planned on running for Governor of Colorado, but instead will pursue other lines of work and continue to help our legislators make some simple corrections.
Under the “leadership” of Attorney General Phil Weiser and Governor Polis, many in our state have been hurt. Weiser stole my career, any hope of practicing medicine, $1.5 million from me, my family and the philanthropies we support, etc. When I sued him in Feb, 2024, he responded with censoring (shadow-banning) our successful YT channel. I am just one of many innocent victims of his obsession with power and control. Currently, Mr. Weiser and others responsible for gaslighting good workers are under investigations by several Colorado institutions.
We have excellent candidates, both Democrat and Republican, who can defeat Mr. Weiser. These public servants are not “career politicians.”
During the last 3 years, I’ve interviewed thousands of Colorado citizens from all walks of life and from every socioeconomic level. The feedback from these thousands of good citizens is similar to the backlash we are seeing in countless news stories throughout our country. The message is clear: over-regulation and “law fare,” Mr. Weiser’s specialties, are fading fast. Almost everyone yearns for a return to traditional values.
The following is, I believe, a winning platform for candidates who wish to serve at any level of government (towns, cities, or state).
1) Oil and Gas - talk with any owner who has had to lay off so many good employees who end up moving out of state to find good jobs.
2) Hunting/fishing/sportswear/our Western way of life - again, talk with anyone owning a business related to these activities.
3) First responders - under AG Weiser’s control, we have innocent victims (police and firefighters) spending time behind bars because prosecutors are trying to make a name for themselves. These stories have made the news.
4) Marijuana/Vaping - everyone in these industries know the additional costs of useless regulations in Colorado.
5) Casinos on Indian Reservations. Recent lawsuits against our Colorado government are evidence of the harm coming out of Denver and the Democrats who have controlled Colorado politics for the last 7-8 years.
6) Health care - Gaslighting of good clinicians is just one of the issues. Nursing homes have been closing because of the regulatory zeal in Colorado. See below for needed reforms.
7) Liquor stores - the progressive democrats plan to allow the big box stores to sell liquor (in addition to beer and wine). Many privately owned stores, whether in metro areas or in rural Colorado, will end up closing and no longer able to serve their communities.
8) Gun owners. See #5 above and review the recent lawsuits by the gun lobby.
9) ALL businesses requiring a license to operate. These include massage parlors, barber shops, nail salons, tattoo parlors, gun shops, law offices, counseling services….the list goes on.
10) Small business owners - many businesses are leaving our state because of our excessive taxes (sales taxes, excise taxes, etc). Many know that Governor Polis and AG Weiser have not been good stewards of limited resources.
11) Judicial reform - no elected official, such as AG Phil Weiser, should control the independent thinking/analyses of the many good judges in our state.
12) Fighting crime by redirecting government resources from bureaucrats to police officers and all first responders who keep us safe. Many have good ideas about transitioning from a bloated bureaucracy to better pay for workers doing the hard work in the field.
13) Minimize all regulations that tend to harm individuals and businesses. Many states, and now our nation, are reviewing useless regulations.
14) Permit reform - minimize delays for homeowners, business owners and contractors. We see progress around the country, especially when unexpected disasters (e.g. the fires in LA) force us to rethink long-held policies.
15) Energy costs. Recent mandates by Gov Polis and “progressive” legislators will cause increased energy costs for families and businesses. Many news stories and editorials cover this.
16) Labor laws. Gov Polis and “progressive” legislators seem to drink the kool-aid of the union leaders and ignore the impact on everyday workers who make sacrifices to strike. So many stories in Colorado (and around the country).
17) Law-fare. Political and business experts know that Gov Polis stacked the Attorney General’s office with lawyers who favor law-fare. Both Polis and AG Weiser have done this because they’ve had their eyes on higher office, not on the real problems here in Colorado.
18) Create a Virtual University that will be free for anyone. The foundation is our YouTube channel, TheCrazyMurphys5560. Please subscribe as AG Weiser is censoring us. Also, look for MurphDocU or murphdoc56 on other platforms that don’t allow censoring.
19) Promote alternative healing in all forms - look at the numbers. As traditional medicine fails many, more and more rely on alternative healing to meet their needs.
20) Minimize extreme views/voices and maximize voices of moderation for all policy debates (e.g., gun control, abortion, immigration, homelessness, drug addiction, prison/parole reform, etc).
21) Anti-gaslighting legislation. We can eliminate institutionalized gaslighting. Any professional (e.g., lawyer, doctor, CNA, massage therapist, nail technician, real estate agent, business owner) who requires a license to work is at risk of losing that license with one false allegation by an anonymous “whistleblower.”
The legislative corrections include:
A. Anti-whistle blowing. Anyone who makes false allegations against innocent victims must face the accused. There has to be accountability; they cannot hide behind “whistle-blowing” statutes.
B. Anyone falsely accused will have the option of being investigated by professionals who are experienced with investigations. Psychologists and psychiatrists have no training in investigations. They are trained to diagnose and end up trying to fit the falsely accused into some boxes that fit their preconceived notions of mental illness. Talk about the height of dysfunction and injustice.
C. Laws that prohibit censoring of any innocent, hard-working citizen.
22) Health Care reform. Collaboration between the government, foundations, and large healthcare systems can lead to changes that make work easier for clinicians (and the patients they serve). All experienced clinicians know that we have to pay more attention to the electronic medical records than to the patients in front of us. So much time is wasted documenting “quality metrics” when these metrics have nothing to do with true quality of care. The Trump administration will focus on de-regulation. This provides new opportunities to help us return to an era when clinicians could spend more time listening to their patients. In Colorado, we have a great history of sharing best practices. We can continue with healthy collaboration and minimize clinician burn-out.
Sincerely,
