Hello Commissioners, Mayor and Councilmembers,
Thank you to those who were able to join us
Monday morning for the Public Lands Membership meeting and apologies for those who had an issue logging in.
-
To assure that everyone has the opportunity to see and weigh in on the 2026 budget and dues schedule, I have attached those to this email as well as a recap of what we discussed in the meeting.
-
The proposed budget is in a strong position, with cash in the bank (savings and checking) even though the budget shows a net loss.
-
Dues are forecast to increase approximately 3.8% but continue to have minimum ($150) and maximum ($4,000) amounts.
-
From an operations perspective, the majority of expenses will be similar to those in prior years.
-
One notable change this year is the portioned reimbursement in 2026 for those on the travel team interested in attending the PILT fly in.
-
We believe this is an incredibly important advocacy effort and hope by providing some reimbursement, we can continue to advocate for PILT and SRS funds in a more coordinated manner.
-
To accommodate this change of reimbursing travel team members $1,000 for PILT fly-in expenses, please also approve the updated Public Lands Travel Policy.
-
Public Lands bylaws require members to pass a budget and dues schedule by the end of the year, and Public Lands dues must be paid on or before February 15.
Also attached is a schedule of upcoming public lands related NACo events for current and those interested
in becoming a member of the Public Lands Travel Team.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Thank you for your prompt reply!
