We've lived in the Livermore Valley for over 50 years and have conserved over 1000 acres through conservation easements. This was done to stop any future development of the land that I've grown to love.
This proposed surface mining on Stienhoff goes against what I and many of my neighbors have wanted to avoid. The fact that there are already 2 quarrys within 5 miles of downtown Livermore and 2 more off of I- 80 just north of Livermore, makes me question the reason for a fifth quarry in the area.
The county has used the material from the I-80 quarry in the past and could use it in the future along with the option of either of the quarrys near Livermore.
The Stienhoff site would leave a permanent scar in the valley that so many people have strived to preserve. I like everyone else I've talked to about this are emphatically opposed to this unnecessary development!
