Hi Jody, Heidi, and Josh,

Hope you all are doing well and enjoying the fall weather!  I’m reaching out as I’d like to invite you to an event that The Nature Conservancy and partners are hosting on Oct 22nd in Westminster focused on renewable energy in CO – exploring challenges facing renewable energy along with potential solutions that may help advance the renewable energy buildout in support of CO’s climate goals.

See attached Save-the-Date flyer with more info, including date, time, location, and partnering organizations.

The intended audience is Front Range city and county elected officials and planning staff.  I wasn’t sure who all in the Larimer County area may be best suited to this forum, so if there are staff within your programs who you think may be interested, please send this their way.

I’m copying our staff who are helping to convene and lead the event – Duncan Gilchrist (Climate and Energy Policy Advisor) and Jakob Lindas (Director of Climate Action) – as an introduction and to let you know that they’re available to answer any questions about the event or if you would like more info.

Thanks so much and have a nice weekend!

-Rob

Thanks so much, Jody, and yes, I wondered if Josh might be interested given his work on biomass, but let’s get a bit more info from Duncan on the overall scope – if you don’t mind, Duncan – as I believe solar and wind and issues around siting and permitting are top of mind.

Again, if there are additional staff within your programs who work in this space, feel free to extend the invitation.

Thanks again and have a nice weekend,

-Rob

Dear Rob,

KC Becker had sent me an invitation last week and I had added Heidi, however I am glad to know we can bring Josh along as well.

We are grateful for your thoughtful invitation.

Thank you!

Warm Regards,

Commissioner Jody Shadduck-McNally

Rob, Thanks so much for the introduction.

Jody, Heidi, Josh - Nice to meet you all and I'm glad to hear that our invite is duplicative of KC's! Our outreach machine is working...

To add a little bit more context to Rob's invite; This event will be most relevant for municipal and county elected officials and sustainability / climate planning staff. Because local climate goals depend on successful infrastructure deployment (often in in far away places) our hope is that folks who've had a hand in passing and implementing local climate mitigation policy will walk away from our event with a clear-eyed understanding of current barriers to deployment of renewable energy infrastructure - namely siting and permitting challenges related to wind, solar, battery storage and transmission - and what is needed to ensure statewide renewable energy infrastructure deployment progress continues.

Let me know if you all have any questions, and please feel free to forward to others who would be appropriate for this event.

Thanks,

Duncan Gilchrist | Climate and Energy Policy Advisor | The Nature Conservancy in Colorado C: 845-240-2662
