Morning' :)

FYI below so you can see the list of questions we're currently planning to use to facilitate the discussion during the panel conversation during the wildfire conf next week. Depending on the room set up, Daniel and I were thinking you could either be a panelist member with the others and/or help him and I facilitate. Either way all good!

Morning!  Thank you all for agreeing to be on our panel presentation at the CO Wildland Fire Conference.  The panel itself will consist of Josh and myself, plus Bette, Kellie, Tom, and Dave.

Here's a link to the conference website:  https://fireadaptedco.org/cwfc-home/

Our panel is from 2:40-3:30 pm on Wed Apr 15.  All sessions are at the Fort Collins Marriott.  Plenty of parking out front.

The conference organizers said you do not have to register for the conference to be on the panel.  If you're already registered, you can attend the whole conference of course, but if you don't register for the conference, please just show up before the panel.

Here's a preview of what I'd like you all to think through, that we will likely discuss at the panel itself:
  1. What is your community's history with wildfire awareness, wildfire preparedness, and wildfire response?
  2. How did your community get to the point of writing or revising your Community Wildfire Protection Plan, and what motivated your community to complete the process?
  3. How did you become involved with the CWDG grant project?
  4. What CWPP priorities are most important to your community, and how is the CWDG project addressing those priorities?
  5. What major challenges do you see in your community in implementing your CWPP priorities?
  6. What does success with the CWDG project look like in your community?  What does failure look like?
  7. Which components of CWPP implementation that your community is working on with the CWDG project do you hope to, or do you intend to, continue past the CWDG project?
Thanks everyone!  Separate email coming soon about the tour on Fri Apr 17.

Daniel

Daniel and I visited and came up with this plan…

Wanna sit on the panel?

Daniel and I will be the facilitators, and on the panel will be representatives from each of the 4 communities we are working with in the project. Then we think a good move would be to add you to the panel also, as a special guest. The other panelists will get some of the questions in the highlighted part down in the emails below, and then we’ve got a few special questions that we’ll plan to ask you, which are:
  • From your perspective as a County Commissioner, why is the Red Feather Lakes Area Wildfire Defense Project important to Larimer County and why is this kind of investment in wildfire defense necessary right now?
  • What would you tell constituents to help them understand the value of this project (and others like it) and what it represents for the future of wildfire resilience in Larimer County?
  • What does success with this project look like to you?

This way, we are positioning this thing in a way that reflects how we are in this together at all levels, from the community member to you as our leadership. I think it’ll be a good natural flow of things and will all fit in together nicely!
