Vote YES on LL and MM to keep kids fed!
Children shouldn’t have to worry about the cost of lunch or skip a meal because their family can’t afford it. But two out of five Colorado families struggle to put food on the table — and, for many children, breakfast or lunch at school is the most nutritious meal they’ll eat all day.
These measures will let Colorado fully implement Healthy School Meals for All, continuing access to free school breakfast and lunch for all public school students. It also will provide schools with resources to prepare more healthy, nutritious meals from scratch using local ingredients from Colorado farmers and ranchers. A YES vote also helps Colorado families afford groceries at home by using remaining funds for SNAP, the federal nutrition program facing unprecedented budget cuts.
You may remember having supported this measure in the past – thank you! Healthy School Meals for All is providing more than 600,000 free meals per day – having seen over a 30% increase in school meal participation. That is great news, but the program needs more funding to meet the need amid rising food costs and more families struggling to keep food on the table.
By voting YES on Props LL and MM this November, we can continue Colorado’s successful Healthy School Meals for All program and keep kids fed.
