Commissioner Jody,
While the country prepares to celebrate 250 years since its independence, one question must be answered: what does freedom mean when every day, nearly 130 people are killed with guns and twice as many people are shot?
What does freedom mean when the Trump administration continues to work towards dismantling our gun safety with reckless, gun lobby-backed policies that keep us less safe?
What does freedom mean when Trump's ATF wants to allow guns to be shipped directly to someone's door – opening new channels to gun trafficking that puts our children and communities at risk?
What does freedom mean when Trump publicly shows his support for the Concealed Carry Mandate, the gun lobby's top priority in Congress and the most extreme gun bill in modern history?
And after the Supreme Court recently announced that it will review reckless gun lobby challenges meant to override laws that restrict the use of assault weapons – weapons that have been used time and again in our nation's deadliest mass shootings – it's clear that we must secure a future where we can live without the threat of gun violence over our heads. The freedom to go to school, gather at a park, or attend a sporting event without the fear of being shot.
In this movement, that's the freedom we're fighting for.
This Independence Day, join us as we fight for a freedom that impacts all of us. Support our fight for a future free from gun violence with a donation of just $25.00 to the Everytown Action Fund today. We can't do this without you.
