Weld County has a new treasurer and public trustee following the commissioners’ approval earlier this week.

Brigitte Grimm on Monday was named the Weld County treasurer and public trustee, receiving unanimous approval from the commissioners.

Weld Director of Administration and Chief Information Officer Ryan Rose presented Grimm to the board before the vote, calling her the “clear No. 1” in a comprehensive search process.

“Her professionalism, experience and overall approach to this position will bring, I think, a much-needed level of professionalism and bright future to the Weld County Treasurer’s Office,” Rose said.

Grimm comes from Larimer County Government, where she served as the chief deputy treasurer and public trustee since July 2020 and filled just the role of chief deputy treasurer for one year prior, according to her LinkedIn. Grimm also served as the Adams County treasurer from January 2011 to July 2019 — a position she was elected to as a Republican candidate.

The Weld County treasurer has been an appointed position since 2003. The treasurer’s responsibilities include collecting county property taxes, distributing those taxes to taxing authorities and investing the difference on behalf of the county.

The treasurer’s office also performs tax deferment applications and manufactured home tax authentications, in addition to preparing certificates of taxes due and handling inquiries related to taxation.

Grimm earned a Master of Business Administration from Regis University, according to her LinkedIn.

Commissioner Kevin Ross agreed with Rose’s assessment of Grimm, saying he was on a call referencing her great work and some disappointment on the other end she was being taken from her former employer.

Commissioner Lori Saine asked Grimm about the best day of her life, to which Grimm answered she has a 30-year-old son.

“I would say bringing him into the world was the best day of my life,” she said.

Commissioner Perry Buck moved to approve Grimm’s appointment, and Saine seconded the motion.
