The Class of 2023 will be crossing the stage and accepting their diplomas next month. Several graduation ceremonies are scheduled in mid-May, plus an International Baccalaureate convocation ceremony.

Four PSD schools pilot new meal checkout technology


This spring, students at Dunn, Kinard, Linton, and Rocky Mountain will use finger-scanning technology instead of keying in student ID numbers to check out of the school lunch or breakfast line. If the pilot shows kids can check out faster this way, it may expand to more schools in the 2023-24 school year. Find out more about the biometric pilot program.>>

Learn suicide prevention techniques


Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) training saves lives. Parents, guardians, and community members are invited to participate in one of the 90-minute QPR trainings April 29 at 9 a.m. (at Fossil Ridge High School), 11:15 a.m. (at Poudre Valley Hospital), and 1:30 p.m. (at Rocky Mountain High School).

New fellowship program to expand school social work opportunities

PSD is the proud recipient of a nearly $10 million federal grant aimed at growing the social work and mental health workforce in public schools. The five-year grant will launch a program this fall that will hire 15 students from the Colorado State University Master of Social Work program to serve as interns in PSD. After one year, the MSW students will graduate from CSU and become fellows for another two years in PSD. Follow this link to learn more about this exciting new opportunity.>>

Dance partnership sparks joy, inspires movement in students


A long-standing tradition of dance at Laurel Elementary School of Arts and Technology expanded this year to include a 10-week specials class for first- through fourth-graders. The class blends social-emotional learning with concepts of movement and introduces dance to children who may not otherwise have the chance to practice in a studio. Starting this summer, all PSD parents will be automatically opted in to receive SMS/text messages as opposed to having to choose to opt in. Parents are encouraged to keep all their contact information updated. Please log into ParentVUE and make sure your cell phone number is up-to-date to ensure delivery of text messages. FAQ's for ParentVUE are available.

Apply now to make a difference on DAC


Poudre School District's District Accountability Committee is now accepting applications for the 2023-24 school year. DAC members meet eight times a year to discuss district priorities and offer suggestions to the Board of Education. DAC membership comprises both parents/guardians and school or district staff.

All children 18 or younger can eat meals free of charge May 30-July 21 at Linton Elementary School or visit a Lunch Lab mobile meal service stop May 30-Aug. 11. Visit the Child Nutrition or the Lunch Lab pages/sites to learn more.

Be a voice for students on board advisory council


The Student Advisory Council (StAC) is seeking applications from PSD students who want to share their experiences and ideas with the Board of Education. The council meets monthly to share their insights into the student experience with board members. Complete this form to apply.>>

PSD copper and lead testing update


All PSD elementary schools and early childhood centers have been sampled for lead in accordance with state law. PSD middle and high schools will be tested for lead in the 2023-24 school year. Test results can be found on the state lead testing database.>>


In addition, all PSD elementary, middle, and high schools were tested for copper this spring to provide additional information about drinking water. Results from each school will be posted soon on the Testing Drinking Water for Lead and Copper web page.>>

Nurture mental health and belonging all year long with community resources


The school year is coming to a close, and that means students who find connection, wellness, and counseling resources at school will be seeking other outlets for the next couple months. Thanks to PSD's community partners, a list has been compiled with spaces of belonging and opportunities to connect this summer.
