Hello commissioner Kefalas,
I hope you are having a great spring! My name is Kiera Daniell and I am a sophomore at Poudre High School. For the past few months, my father and I have been training for a marathon which we finished in the beginning of February. We did the majority of this training and the final marathon on the Poudre Trail from my home in Laporte to Wellington. Through this process, I gained a growing respect for our county's beauty through it's diverse landscapes and inhabitants that call it come. While planning for our marathon, I noticed that a small part of the trail is extremely close to being finished and it occurred to me that a great way to celebrate the finished trail and to bring the community together would be to host a race. My goal would be to gain sponsors and charge an entrance fee to help raise money possibly the further maintenance support of the trail and the natural areas surrounding it.
I am contacting you because I am an IB (International Baccalaureate) student and am considering making this one of my school projects. I was wondering what are the first steps to take for something like this and if there is anyone that I could contact as well. I am referring to you first because my mother (Erica Daniell), says that you are also a runner and I thought that it would be great to work with you to try to make this race come to reality.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration,
Kiera Daniell
