Did you know that making your website accessible is required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)? For millions of Americans with disabilities, navigating the digital world isn’t always simple. More than 70 million people across the country have a disability — and for many, everyday online tasks such as reading content, watching videos, or completing forms can present barriers. Nearly 50 million adults experience vision loss, 48 million are deaf or hard of hearing, and 39 million have a motor disability that can make using a mouse or keyboard challenging. With the Internet fully integrated into our daily lives, meeting ADA, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other compliance requirements is no longer optional — it’s essential for reaching all users and meeting legal compliance. Still, many don’t know where to start.
Where You Can Start
The Digital Accessibility Services team at The Viscardi Center works with organizations across various industries — including businesses, nonprofits, government agencies, financial institutions, and schools — to help assess digital accessibility needs, create compliance plans, and remediate issues across their websites and digital platforms.
We assist organizations of all sizes, nationally, by:
- Ensuring websites are WCAG accessible and usable by screen readers and other assistive technologies
- Identifying and remediating barriers for users with disabilities, including digital documents and video content
- Supporting compliance with ADA and Section 508 regulations
