Memorial Day Weekend is here.

As millions of Americans prepare to hit the road for the 2026 Memorial Day weekend, the Estes Valley Voice will begin tracking gas prices in Estes Park and across the NoCo Front Range throughout the summer travel season.

AAA projects a record 45 million people will travel between Thursday and Monday, with 87% expected to drive despite fuel prices reaching their highest levels since the summer of 2022. The national average for regular unleaded gasoline stood at about $4.56 per gallon Thursday, according to AAA, compared with $3.18 at the same time a year ago.

In Estes Park, prices on Wednesday at the Sinclair station on Colorado Highway 7 were $4.94 9/10 per gallon for regular unleaded and $5.93 9/10 per gallon for diesel.

The Estes Valley Voice is asking readers to help track fuel prices throughout the summer travel season. Readers can email a photo of local gas prices along with the location where the photo was taken. The Voice plans to publish a weekly graph tracking fuel price trends in Estes Park and surrounding communities.

Today’s edition is a bit long because there is a lot of local news to report.
