On Tuesday, June 25, the seventh annual People v. Cancer summit will illuminate stories from the front lines of cancer and rare-disease care, featuring the people affected most: patients and caregivers. 

 

If you haven’t registered yet, do so soon to secure your spot, and join us in person in New York City or virtually from anywhere. 

Program begins at 9:30 a.m. 

Programming concludes and Networking Lunch begins at 12:30 p.m.

Politics and Prose is hosting a free, first-come, first-served in-person panel event in Washington, D.C., to discuss The Atlantic’s ambitious new editorial project, “The Great American Novels,” which brings together the most consequential novels of the past 100 years.  

 

Join the Atlantic editors Adrienne LaFrance, Emma Sarappo, and Lenika Cruz, and the staff writer Ross Andersen, on Monday, May 20, from 7 to 8 p.m. ET at Politics and Prose’s Wharf location, at 610 Water St. SW.

The Atlantic Festival is returning to The Wharf in Washington, D.C., September 19 and 20. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, June 12. 

 

This year, the festival will be heralded by a brand-new special event, A Night Out With The Atlantic, on Wednesday, September 18. Tickets for this event will be released this summer.

On Thursday, May 2, The Atlantic kicked off Democracy at a Crossroads, a three-stop tour bringing Atlantic writers to colleges and universities across the country to discuss crucial issues shaping the 2024 election cycle.

 

The first stop was at the University of Nevada at Reno and convened the Atlantic staff writers Elaina Plott Calabro, Adam Harris, and Ronald Brownstein, and the contributor Evan Smith. During the event, Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar was interviewed by Jon Ralston, the founder of The Nevada Independent, about the importance of free and fair elections.

The tour will continue September 12 at Morehouse College, and at Michigan State University on October 16.

On May 10, The Atlantic hosted a panel discussion examining the impact and future of bail reforms in Harris County, Texas. 

 

The Atlantic’s Ronald Brownstein interviewed the Texas Jail Project’s Krishnaveni Gundu, Harris County Criminal Court Judge Shannon Baldwin, and the University of Houston Law Center's Sandra Guerra Thompson.
