Construction impacts for the week of

Nov. 9, 2025

Mead to Berthoud

The speed limit on the project has been lowered to 65 mph. Please obey speed limit signs.

Sunday, Nov. 2 at 12 a.m., to Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 5 a.m., there will be a temporary full closure of the southbound I-25 off-ramp at Weld County Road 34 to allow crews to rebuild the ramp and join it with the new concrete lanes of I-25. This closure is planned to end on Wednesday, November 12 at 5 a.m.

  • Traffic intending to exit southbound I-25 at WCR 34 will continue south to exit at Colorado Highway 66, then travel back north onto I-25 and exit at WCR 34.

Tuesday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., there will be a southbound I-25 right lane closure between CO 66 and Weld County Road 32 and CO 66 for lane striping operations.

Monday, Nov. 17, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., there will be a temporary full closure of the southbound I-25 on-ramp at WCR 34 to allow crews to install lighting caissons.

  • Traffic on WCR 34 intending to enter southbound I-25 will travel north to Colorado Highway 56/Weld County Road 44 (exit 250), turn around and enter southbound I-25.

Permanent Frontage Road Closure
CDOT is actively coordinating with the Town of Mead and Weld County on the High Plains Boulevard Project while continuing construction on this segment of the I-25 North Express Lanes Project.

As part of this coordination, the I-25 E. Frontage Road, between WCR 34 and Weld County Road 36, will close permanently on Monday, Dec. 1, to allow for the expansion and additional lanes on I-25 North. Once the frontage road is closed, it will only be open to local business traffic. Local business access will also be available from WCR 36 and Weld County Road 38.

However, once the new High Plains Boulevard is complete, previous frontage road traffic, including local business traffic, will shift onto the newly constructed High Plains Boulevard.

Ongoing Closures:

A temporary closure of Valley Road is ongoing to allow crews to reconstruct the bridge over the road. This closure will be in place through 2025. Motorists should plan accordingly, as no detour route is available.

Southbound I-25 traffic shifted to the northbound lanes between Colorado Highway 56 and Colorado Highway 66 into a head-to-head configuration and will be in place through 2025.

Approximately one mile of the southbound I-25 Express Lane, between mile points 251 and 250, from approximately Weld County Road 44 to Weld County Road 46, is closed through late 2027.

Construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change. Please watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting mainline I-25 and obey all posted signage in construction zones. Your safety and the safety of our crews is our highest priority.

The I-25 North Express Lanes Project provides a Courtesy Patrol during commute hours (6 to 9 a.m. and 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.) to assist with disabled vehicles within the Project limits from Johnstown to Fort Collins.

About the Project

Communities along the I-25 North corridor are expanding rapidly, contributing to major economic growth in northern Colorado. The Colorado Department of Transportation is supporting this growth by delivering the expansion of I-25 North. Improvements are currently underway along I-25 between Berthoud and Fort Collins (with more to come from Mead to Berthoud).

This project brings economic, environmental and quality of life benefits for northern Coloradans by:

  •  Making safety improvements to reduce the number of crashes and fatalities.
  •  Decreasing travel time and increasing trip reliability.
  •  Reducing emissions and improving freight efficiency.
  •  Improve congestion and safety.
  •  Rebuilding aging and obsolete infrastructure.
  •  Improving bicycle, pedestrian and transit connectivity.
