Construction impacts for the week of
May 11, 2025

Crews pouring concrete for Valley Road.

Mead to Berthoud

The speed limit on the project has been lowered to 65 mph. Please obey speed limit signs.

A temporary closure of Weld County Road 34 over I-25 is ongoing through Wednesday, June 18 at 5 p.m. This closure will allow crews to pour concrete pavement, complete the new WCR 34 overpass, and perform ramp and future intersection earthwork as construction progresses.

  • Eastbound WCR 34 traffic will turn south on southbound I-25 to Colorado Highway 66, and turn east to CO 66, then north on Colorado Boulevard to WCR 34.
  • Westbound WCR 34 traffic will turn south on Colorado Boulevard, turn west on CO 66, and turn north on County Road 7 to WCR 34.

There are also northbound I-25 on- and off-ramp closures at WCR 34, and a full closure of the E. Frontage Road, north and south of WCR 34, through Friday, May 23 at noon.

  • Eastbound WCR 34 traffic intending to enter northbound I-25 will travel south on I-25 to CO 66, turn around and enter northbound I-25.
  • Westbound WCR 34 traffic intending to enter northbound or southbound I-25 will travel south on Colorado Boulevard, head west on CO 66 and return to I-25.
  • Northbound I-25 traffic exiting at WCR 34 will continue north to CO 56, turn south on I-25 and travel to WCR 34.
  • Southbound I-25 traffic exiting at eastbound WCR 34 will travel south on I-25 to CO 66, then to Colorado Boulevard and back to WCR 34.
  • Northbound E. Frontage Road traffic will turn east on Weld County Road 32, turn north on Colorado Boulevard, and turn west on Weld County Road 38 to the E. Frontage Road.
  • Southbound E. Frontage Road traffic will turn east on WCR 38, turn south on Colorado Boulevard, then turn west on WCR 32.
NB I-25 WCR off-ramp closure map
Monday and Tuesday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., there will be a southbound I-25 right lane closure between Weld County Road 38 and WCR 34 for setting and erecting bridge girders.

Additional Closures:

A temporary closure of Valley Road is ongoing to allow crews to reconstruct the bridge over the road. This closure will be in place through Summer 2025. Motorists should plan accordingly, as no detour route is available.

Southbound I-25 traffic shifted to the northbound lanes between Colorado Highway 56 and Colorado Highway 66 into a head-to-head configuration and will be in place through 2025.

Approximately one mile of the southbound I-25 Express Lane, between mile points 251 and 250, from approximately Weld County Road 44 to Weld County Road 46, is closed through late 2027.

About the Project

Communities along the I-25 North corridor are expanding rapidly, contributing to major economic growth in northern Colorado. The Colorado Department of Transportation is supporting this growth by delivering the expansion of I-25 North. Improvements are currently underway along I-25 between Berthoud and Fort Collins (with more to come from Mead to Berthoud).

This project brings economic, environmental and quality of life benefits for northern Coloradans by:

  •  Making safety improvements to reduce the number of crashes and fatalities.
  •  Decreasing travel time and increasing trip reliability.
  •  Reducing emissions and improving freight efficiency.
  •  Improve congestion and safety.
  •  Rebuilding aging and obsolete infrastructure.
  •  Improving bicycle, pedestrian and transit connectivity.
