Open records ruling; Centerra South decision

Good morning Loveland.

Winter is still with us as the National Weather Service says the city can expect a cloudy day, with a high near 39, wind gusts up to 21 mph and a 30% chance of snow showers, mainly after noon. Read the full forecast here.

In news, we've got a look at a court decision Tuesday to let the city not release responses to a 2021 employee engagement survey to the mayor, and the Planning Commission ruling on Monday that the Centerra South proposal is not consistent with the city 's comprehensive plan. Citing “integrity of the city and its promise,” 8th Judicial District Judge Joseph Findley granted a petition filed by the city of Loveland related to a Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) request filed by Mayor Jacki Marsh.

Larimer County takes official position on several statehouse bills

The commissioners officially registered their support for a bill that would strengthen just-cause eviction protections, a bill that would expand workforce programs in forestry and a bill that would aid reforestation in Colorado, but came out in strong opposition to a bill that would require larger counties like Larimer to have five county commissioners instead of three, and require them to be voted on by residents of their district rather than all residents in the county, as is the case now.

Coroner: Loveland man killed in north Fort Collins after fleeing Feb. 18 traffic stop

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office has identified 28-year-old Brent Thompson as the person killed from being hit by a truck after fleeing a traffic stop in north Fort Collins Feb. 18. Thompson, according to a release from the office, died of multiple blunt force injuries from the crash.
