Thirteen Colorado employers made it onto Forbes' list of the best in America, including three located in Fort Collins.

Forbes released two lists earlier this year highlighting the 1,000 best large and midsize employers across America: 600 large and 400 midsize.

The rankings were decided based on surveys of current and former employees and people familiar with the company through friends, family or peers in their industry, Forbes said. Greater weight was given to current or former employees.

America's Best Large Employers

Places with 5,000 or more employees:

  • No. 4: Children's Hospital Colorado (Aurora)
  • No. 64: RE/MAX (statewide)
  • No. 174: ARCADIS (Highlands Ranch)
  • No. 211: Colorado State University (Fort Collins)
  • No. 236: University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (Denver)
  • No. 506: Advanced Energy Industries (Fort Collins)
  • No. 562: Molson Coors (Denver)

Places with 1,000 to 5,000 employees:

  • No. 33: Boulder Valley School District (Boulder)
  • No. 44: PCL Construction (Denver)
  • No. 127: Leprino Foods (Denver)
