Economic Development & Workforce Council

announces program with Chamber

to offset cost of industry-leading hospitality training for local employees

Career advancement is a goal of many local employees, but it can be quite an investment of time and financial resources. The Estes Chamber and Economic Development & Workforce Council are making it less intimidating for those in the Estes Valley to achieve their goals, in partnership with the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), a global leader in hospitality education, training and certification, for the hospitality industry.

“We are excited to be able to offer free access to AHLEI, a highly-respected instructional organization that develops top-notch online training courses for hospitality career-paths", said Chamber President Colleen DePasquale. "With this opportunity, local members of our workforce who want to grow in their hospitality areas of focus will be able to select their courses and have them paid for, by us, ahead of time, not reimbursed. So those who are interested, only need to commit time to developing their skills and the rest is free of charge. It’s an amazing opportunity to give local workforce a leg-up in their hospitality careers,” DePasquale added.

Courses being offered are part of the EDWC 2026 operating mission to support economic growth in Estes Park by expanding learning opportunities for local business leaders and workforce members. The instructional classes range from $25-$300 and will be covered on a per-class basis. Participants will need to create a profile on the AHLEI website. Courses will require a simple email request and approval. Most courses are offered in both English and Spanish.

Interested employees may select from a range of courses including:

  • Guest Service Gold: a universal hospitality entry program
  • Certifications: Front Desk Representative, Guestroom Attendance, Breakfast Attendant, Kitchen Cook, Maintenance Employee, and Restaurant Server
  • Elements of Service: serving guests with disabilities
  • Situational Leadership: de-escalation and active threat response
  • Supervisory Skill Builders: multi-course program

To request registration for a course from the Chamber and EDWC, please email dire...@esteschamber.org

The day began with the Ready, Set, Grow women’s conference, hosted by Harriette Woodard, Bank of Colorado Mortgage Division and Julie Abel, Signature Home Team / KW Top of the Rockies - Estes Park with additional support from Visit Estes Park. “In Estes Park, these women lead not only through formal roles or visible projects, but also through the way they live their lives—with passion, purpose, resilience, and a willingness to embrace change and innovation for the future,” she added.

The Women of Impact was made possible by the generous support of Bank of Colorado and The Barrel.

“We believe Women of Impact connect, encourage, engage, and enable positive change by inspiring actions that move our community forward, not only when they are actively engaged in a project or event, but also through living their lives with passion and purpose and embracing changes that innovate us for the future, and these two women truly embody that sentiment,” said Colleen DePasquale, Executive Director, Estes Chamber of Commerce.

Remembering Nick Mollé

Nick Mollé taught us to follow our dreams and pursue our passions. He traveled the globe, from Australia to Alaska in search of unforgettable memories and unusual moments that brought us valuable lessons about far away lands.

He was a man with the clearest purpose, and most endearing humor. He was a producer, writer, host, artist, and visionary who won multiple awards for his productions, and made contributions to the documentary and film community that will continue to be passed down for generations.

And, Nick was, Nick. A kind, humble, jovial soul who loved the mountains, valued his environment, and wanted to see his community thrive. Nick hiked and documented Rocky Mountain National Park for more than two-decades, teaching us all about conservationism and bringing the magic of Estes Park to visitors far and wide - always with a bright smile.

For some, he likely lit the spark that inspired them to visit, hike, learn, and become better stewards of our community and parks. He also loved this town and community and became a founding member of the Chamber to help our local business community to thrive. His vision and passion will be missed, but they are not gone - he instilled in his daughters the same drive and we are fortunate to have the Mollé vision living on, as strong as ever, in our community. With that passion and vision we will continue to grow, to see the world with wonder, to imagine bigger, and to give deeper gratitude for the splendor and world around us.

“Nick Molle was a cornerstone of Estes Park—an entrepreneur, a founding Chamber Board member, and someone whose passion for this community and Rocky Mountain National Park showed up in everything he did. He didn’t just love Estes Park—he invested in it, helped shape it, and worked to make it better for all of us. His impact will be lasting, his absence deeply felt, and his legacy will remain a part of this community for generations to come.”

-Chamber Board Chair Breeyan Edwards

Community Support Forum April 8th

Members of the Estes Park business community have come together to launch a Community Support Group initiative designed to support Exchange Visitors participating in the Summer Work and Travel program. The program helps participants successfully navigate their exchange programs while fostering meaningful cultural exchange, ensuring that participants have a safe, welcoming, and culturally enriching experience while living and working in the Estes Valley.

“Community Support Groups (CSGs) are really excellent additions to our ways of working with exchange visitors,” said Kiley Schroeder, Chamber Operations Manager. “They are deeply collaborative initiatives that bring together cities, chambers of commerce, sponsors, employers, and community members to support international exchange visitors during their time in the United States, and they are even recognized by the U.S. Department of State,” she added.

The Estes Park Community Support Group will hold two Welcome Weeks over the Summer Season that will include a series of activities designed to help participants transition smoothly into their new environment. A key priority of the program is ensuring accessibility and cultural awareness. Orientation activities include community tours, and social gatherings that introduce exchange visitors to local resources, workplace expectations, transportation options, and community norms. The CSG also offers resources with clear communication and cultural sensitivity in mind to support individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those navigating language differences or unfamiliar community systems.

“The program encourages involvement from employers, housing providers, volunteers, and community members to create opportunities for cultural exchange and connection,” she continued. “By fostering an inclusive environment, the program helps international participants feel supported while strengthening relationships across the Estes Park community.”

As part of the initiative, the Estes Park Community Support Group will host a community forum on April 8th at the YMCA of the Rockies to introduce the program and invite local participation. The forum will include an overview of the Summer Work and Travel program, a presentation from the U.S. Department of State, an outline of the Community Support Group’s objectives, and an invitation for community members to join the effort.

The forum is open to everyone in the community, providing an opportunity for residents, employers, and organizations to learn more about the program and explore ways to support the international students who spend their summers living and working in Estes Park.

The Estes Park Community Support Program is developed through strong partnerships with organizations committed to workforce stability and cultural exchange in the Estes Valley. The Estes Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development & Workforce Council is collaborating with Bridge USA, the Town of Estes Park and the Mayor’s Office, Visit Estes Park, and YMCA of the Rockies—one of the area’s largest employers of exchange visitors—to support this effort.

Mark your calendar to participate in the April 8th event and reach out to Kiley Schroeder at the Estes Chamber if you would like to get involved.

Grant program helps local businesses

attract, retain, and develop employees

Larimer County and the City of Fort Collins are launching a new initiative for local businesses called the Local Industry Grant Hire, Train, Retain (LIGHTR) program.

LIGHTR helps small businesses to remain competitive by offsetting the cost of training and certifications for current employees. The mission of the program is to support business growth, employee upward mobility and workforce development by providing financial assistance for employee professional development and upskilling including tuition, certifications and testing costs. For a small business with 2-50 employees, that equates to up to $3,000 in grant funding to assist with employee training, certification and development.

"We're excited to partner with the City of Fort Collins to offer employee training grants to Larimer County businesses. It's clear that training has a positive impact on business growth, employee retention and overall upward mobility, so we launched LIGHTR to spread these benefits to more small businesses," said Adam Crowe, Economic Development Manager, Economic and Workforce Development Department of Larimer County

Interested businesses should confirm their eligibility and identify their desired training provider and program, ensuring such training will lead to measurable results. The application period opened March 5, 2026 and applications will be reviewed on a first-come first-serve basis.

Business Leaders: Connect with Your Industry Partners

Industry sector partnerships offer business owners opportunities to connect with other professionals in their related industries - specifically finance, healthcare, construction, manufacturing, non-profits, and hospitality. The regular meeting establishes time for business professionals to openly discuss challenges facing their sector, workshop solutions with public and private partners in attendance, and network with like-minded leaders.

"Northern Colorado has some of the longest-standing and most successful sector partnerships in the nation and this is all due to dedicated industry leaders combining efforts to identify shared challenges and working with education, workforce and other local organizations to address those challenges. I'm constantly impressed by what these partnerships accomplish and the benefits their efforts bring to our community,” commented Adam Crowe, Economic Development Manager, Larimer County.

These Sector Partnerships build industry-led connections, in a shared labor market region, which strengthen regional economies and align education and training systems with the needs of industry. Sector partnerships also focus on other issues related to an industry’s competitiveness. This ensures deeper, broader, and longer-term industry engagement and success. These partnerships are led and shaped by the business members of a target industry who actively participate in developing an agenda that addresses specific workforce and education needs, making it highly tailored to your particular needs.

Estes' Susie Masterson Awarded "Publisher of the Year"

Susie Masterson, the owner and Publisher of Estes Park Vacationland, was recently awarded “Publisher of the Year” at the 2026 Niche Conference in Orlando, Florida. This national conference is attended by accomplished publishers, advertising sales managers, editors, and designers, in addition to printers and other vendors who offer products for business efficiency and data collection. Masterson is a proud, long-time Estes Chamber member.  “This is a wonderful honor for this experienced and tenured group at Niche to recognize my work. They are colleagues and coaches I work with on a regular basis for advertising sales and publishing ideas in order to stay abreast of critical, timely concepts,” says Masterson. “It’s refreshing to have this group of professionals, all immersed in publishing in some fashion, gather and share ideas, and this progress is apparent in what I can offer my clients.”

Two of GuestGuide Publications visitor guides, Base Camp Kanab Visitor Guide, and the Moab to Monument Valley Guest Guide were finalists for “Magazine of the Year” as well. “This Niche group is focused more on business-to-business or business-to-consumer publications, so for two travel guides to be finalists is also a great honor,” Masterson commented.  This is the fifth award for GuestGuide Publications from Niche. Multiple honors have been awarded for “Best Media Company” and “Best Regional” and “Best Travel Guide” for the Moab to Monument Valley GuestGuide. Estes Park Vacationland was also a finalist for “Best Visitor Guide” by a different organization in 2020. The Official State Guide to Oregon ultimately won that award. “Even for my little company, I felt that being recognized right behind a state organization was still quite an honor!” Masterson beams. Estes Park Vacationland was also given a “Certificate of Excellence” from that organization in 2012, the first year that Masterson was the Owner/Publisher. GuestGuide Publications just purchased the Moab Menu Guide, making it the 14th guide the company has published in 31 years in business.

“I wear most of the hats and totally immerse myself in the book we are working on—often more than one at a time. My graphic designer is spot on with ad design and the overall look of our guides. It’s a wonderful job, and I enjoy working with all of the clients and people who are so supportive of me. I have a great team, and this award goes to the entire team!” Masterson explains. In addition to Estes Park Vacationland, Guest Guide Publications also produces: Grand County Menu Guide, Moab Menu Guide, Base Camp Kanab, and Moab to Monument Valley GuestGuide. Contact Guest Guide Publications at in...@guestguidepublications.com or by calling 970-887-0776.

Welcome, Talia Siens: Advancing Estes Arts District’s Colorado Creative Industries Creative District

We are pleased to announce the hiring of Talia Siens as the new Arts & Culture Program Director, a shared position supporting both the Estes Arts District and Visit Estes Park.

The Estes Arts District oversees the state-designated Colorado Creative Industry certification. Achieving this designation reflects years of collaborative effort by the Town of Estes Park, Visit Estes Park, Estes Arts District board members, staff, artists, community partners, and supporters to build recognition for the area’s creative sector.

This role, established through a joint partnership, is designed to strengthen the local creative economy, support small businesses, and enhance the cultural experience for both residents and visitors in the Estes Valley.

Talia brings over 15 years of experience in cultural tourism, historic preservation, and community-driven programming. She currently serves as Chairperson of the Colorado Scenic and Historic Byways Commission, where she leads statewide strategy connecting communities through heritage and storytelling. She has also revitalized the Pawnee Pioneer Trails Scenic and Historic Byway and is a founding board member of Friends of Raymer, helping preserve and activate historic spaces through partnerships, fundraising, and programming. In addition, her background in photography and marketing brings strong storytelling and content expertise to this role.

In her new position, Talia will lead efforts to integrate arts, culture, and the creative economy across both organizations. Her work will focus on strengthening community engagement, expanding arts programming, supporting partnerships, and elevating storytelling.

“This partnership represents a shared commitment to elevating and advancing the arts in Estes Park,” said Lars Sage, co-chair of the Estes Arts District. “By working together, we can expand opportunities for artists, enrich the cultural experience for residents and visitors, and strengthen the creative vitality of our community.”

As the organization continues to grow, the Estes Arts District is working toward becoming an umbrella organization that connects and supports the many arts, culture, and creative groups across the Estes Valley. Through coordination, shared resources, and collective advocacy, the organization aims to strengthen the creative economy, expand opportunities for artists, and ensure arts and culture remain a vibrant and visible part of the Estes Park community.

Join us May 13 at 3:00 PM at the Estes Arts District Headquarters for “Inside the Creative District: Meet Talia and the Estes Arts District Board.” Learn about the district’s vision for the future, meet the board members, and find out how you can get involved in shaping the arts community.

The Town is offering local businesses the opportunity to advertise on our RV Camping Permits. These permits are required to be displayed by all RV campers, providing excellent visibility and direct exposure to visitors throughout their stay.

With approximately 12–15 events each year utilizing our RV Campground, this is a great way to connect with a steady flow of guests. Advertising space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, with layout determined by the number of participating businesses. Ads may include QR codes linking to business websites, special offers, coupons, and more

Estes Park Community Support Group Hosts First Forum

volunteer-woman.jpg

On April 15th, the Estes Park Community Support Group (CSG) hosted its inaugural forum, bringing together a diverse group of over 50 Estes Park community members. Through the collective efforts of visa sponsors, host employers, housing providers, local businesses, and community members, along with the support of the Estes Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development & Workforce Council (EDWC), Visit Estes Park, and the Mayor’s Office, the Estes Park CSG aims to foster a welcoming, safe, and culturally enriching experience for exchange visitors. CSGs serve both exchange visitors and communities. They create safer, better-informed, and more culturally enriching programs, while helping communities maintain a reliable seasonal workforce to support their tourism industry.

“Exchange visitors are a vital part of Estes Park,” said Kiley Jo Schroeder, Operations Manager for the Estes Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development and Workforce Council. “They support our businesses, they contribute to our economy, and they bring energy, diversity, and global perspective to our town.”

“I support this support group initiative completely. The exchange visitors are a critical part of Estes Park’s summer economy. We need them. We love to have them. They are wonderful for our town, both from a cultural standpoint and from a commerce standpoint,” said Mayor Gary Hall.

Community Support Groups originated as a religious organization outreach effort to offer friendship and weekly meals to exchange visitors and evolved into a structured organization. The group was formed to address exchange visitor well-being while in our country, create resources to orient them to the area, and continue the tradition of offering events that help integrate exchange visitors into the community and introduce them to American culture. Today, there are more than 15 CSGs across the United States, sharing a common mission while adapting to the unique needs of their communities.

“I first came to Estes Park as an exchange visitor, and that experience truly shaped my life,” Amanda Moulden, Director of Talent Acquisition & International Programs at YMCA of the Rockies, said. “These programs create meaningful cultural exchange while also supporting the local workforce, and I’m proud to now support others in having that same opportunity.”

The Estes Park CSG will launch its first initiatives this summer with a welcome week, a World Cup party, and an Exchange Day event. The welcome week, beginning on June 15th, will feature a Community Fair where exchange visitors can learn about local resources and immigration information, and receive ID cards with U.S. emergency contacts. The World Cup party, hosted by a local business, will celebrate how sports bring people together across cultures. The Exchange Day event, on August 3rd, will bring exchange visitors together for an afternoon of American barbecue, field day games, and volunteering. Future initiatives include educational resources, housing advocacy, and emergency preparedness.

The CSG depends on community participation to thrive. You can support its work by joining the leadership team, hosting cultural activities, or donating goods or funds to its summer events. If you are interested in participating in any of these opportunities, please contact Este...@CSGNational.org.

Estes Park Winter Lights Community Poll

Visit Estes Park is excited to share plans for winter lighting in Estes Park. Our goal is to extend the winter season, support local businesses, and create a welcoming atmosphere that lasts well beyond the holidays.

This year, we’ll continue lighting downtown from the entrance of Elkhorn Avenue through West Elkhorn, building on the traditions our community loves. Favorites like the rebar trees on light posts, vintage scenes, and lighting at the American Legion and Holiday Inn islands will all return.

As part of our winter lighting plans, we will:

  1. Increase lighting at the entrance of downtown
  2. Add lighting to trees along Moraine Avenue
  3. Install lights on the lampposts along Cleave Street
  4. Enhance lighting throughout Bond Park

We want your input on the theme for Bond Park! Share your feedback in this community poll and help shape Estes Park’s winter experience.

Creativity Cabin and Inspired Art Experiences Announce New Partnership

Creativity Cabin, located at 342 W. Riverside Drive, is

excited to announce a new partnership with Natalie Patrick, owner of Inspired Art Experiences, bringing together two creative forces to offer an expanded range of

hands-on art experiences for both locals and visitors in Estes Park. Creativity Cabin, founded by Patti Aldridge, has become a beloved destination in the community for approachable, joy-filled art experiences.

Creativity Cabin focuses especially on kiln-fired arts including painting ceramics and stoneware; hand-molded or slab rolled clay projects and will be introducing small wheels this year. Other experiences include introduction to stained glass, glass etching and mosaic art. Inspired Art Experiences, led by Natalie Patrick, shares that same passion for creativity and connection. With a focus on using fun materials to create unique, one-of-a-kind projects, Inspired has built a reputation for helping people tap into their creativity through thoughtfully designed classes, workshops, and art kits. Inspired offers art

experiences in Alcohol Inks, Wood Burning, Marbling and much more. They also have

over 12 different art kits for artists to be able to either make in studio or take home to

create.

Both spaces are known for their welcoming and supportive atmosphere and wide variety

of creative options that provide opportunities for all ages and skill levels to explore

artistic expression in a relaxed, encouraging environment. Creativity Cabin and Inspired

serendipitous opened in the same year, 2019, and have both worked to create

meaningful and memorable experiences for their customers.

“We realized that we have a shared mission. It’s two-fold: first, we want to share the

mindful experience of creating that is so important for resiliency and total mind/body

health. Second, we are here to instill that everyone can do art. Creativity is an exercise;

and the more you engage with it, the stronger it becomes. To those ends, we offer

excellent customer service and individualized support and encouragement. With

Inspired moving in with Creativity Cabin, we can work together to allow us to offer more

opportunities for creative exploration and combine forces to spread more joy in the

creative process.”

Together, Patti and Natalie are creating something truly special—offering an even

broader range of art-centered experiences all under one roof. Guests can now enjoy

everything from ceramics to watercolor in a conveniently located, one-stop-art-shop.

Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just looking to try something new, there is truly

something for everyone.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, this partnership comes at the perfect time.

Creativity Cabin with Inspired is a sweet spot for kids to create a meaningful, handmade

gift or for families to enjoy a creative outing together. It’s also an ideal venue for

gatherings of all kinds, including bridal showers, bachelorette parties, birthday parties,

family reunions, girls’ weekends or nights out, and team-building events.

At its heart, this partnership is about more than art, it’s about creating experiences that

bring people together. It’s about making memories, fostering connection, and giving the

Estes Park community and its visitors a special place to be creative and inspired.

A ribbon cutting event marking their new collaboration will be held on May 1st at 5:00.

Come check out the shared space, learn more about our classes and upcoming

workshops, and then join the Arts District for the First Friday Art Groove around town.

Whether you call it mini-golf, par-3, peewee, or putt-putt, when The Estes Chamber of Commerce and Ride-a-Kart team-up, you know it’s time to grab your putter, rally your team, and compete for the title in a lively evening full of friendly competition, laughs, and connections.

“Mini-golf is great because it’s such a fun course, full of challenges that brings back a lot of nostalgia for many of us who may not have been great golfers on the 18-hole course, but we shine in the water traps and obstacles of a mini-course” said Chamber President, Colleen DePasquale.

The third annual Chamber Mini-Golf Tournament is set to take place on June 4th, sponsored by Platte River Power Authority, Holiday Inn Estes Park by IHG, and hosted by Ride-a-Kart.

The tournament will take place from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM.

Tickets are available on the Chamber website:

$60 for teams of 4

$15 for individuals golfing

$10 for children golfing

$15 for individuals networking

$15 for individuals wanting to go kart

New this year: participants can keep playing after the final hole with an optional go-kart racing add-on with Ride-A-Kart’s upgraded racing experience inspired by a popular video game,  launching a new fleet of electric Power Up go-karts. The experience also includes a new gamified racing system. Racers will be able to earn speed boosts by collecting coins and can even slow other racers down by (virtually) throwing things at them. This is made possible with sensors installed in the track, which racers can find on a map, as well as buttons to use power-ups on the steering wheel. Once everyone crosses the finish line, the scores will be calculated and the winners will be invited to the podium. There is also a scoreboard where racers can see and compare their results.

Not a golfer? No problem. Come for the fun, networking, and a refreshing beverage while you cheer on the competition and enjoy the energy of the event.
