This request regards a closed case, John.
Yes, the parent should talk to you directly  as the department did not respond to her voiced concerns - no written response has ever been received or discussed.
To what end would sharing her story have?
I guess that is your decision.
Thank you.

John please advise how I can sign this “release of information” form you speak of. I am at the library as we speak and will get this done as soon as possible. Additionally if there is anything else the department needs from me to further assist in this matter
please do let me know so that it can be resolved as soon as possible. I appreciate your help and look forward to speaking   with you soon.

Kind regards,

Good morning Rosemary,

Hope you had a Happy Mother's Day celebration. After consulting with Heather O'Hayre and receiving legal information from our Deputy County Attorney, I don't think it is in the parent's and the county's best interests to meet and discuss case specific information without this parent signing a release of information form, and I do not believe this is on file with our county human services folks. It was my understanding that the proposed meeting would include the parent whose case is closed, according to you. Does this parent want to participate in such a meeting and to what end? Has this parent filed a complaint/grievance form with specific concerns about her case that was assigned to the caseworker? As you know, our HS Department reviewed all the cases assigned to the caseworker and followed our written protocol with the state - working directly with the CDHS Child Welfare Division Director, and certain cases were referred to the LCSO for further investigation. I am sorry that I'm unable to grant your request at this time. Be well.

Thank you John.
Much appreciated. I think its important to hear this "lived experience" directly.
You can decide if the dept. was fair and reasonable in working with Carrie.

Respectfully,
Rosemary

Hello Rosemary,

I am willing to meet with this mother, and I will look to schedule something between 5/9 and 5/23 because we have some complex land use hearings scheduled for 5/6 and possibly 5/8, and I am not scheduling additional meetings between now and then. I will contact you on 5/9 with some proposed dates and times. Thank you.

One additional comment that should be made, John, is that parents may speak about their child welfare cases with whoever they choose.
Thank you.

I would like the genuine opportunity to just be honest and real about my experience. I am personally just frustrated that it feels like the department just keeps playing games by requiring me to do more and more just to be heard. But this is not a game to me. This is mine and my children’s real life and it has been tragically turned upside down. I think the least that could be done is for someone to allow me to speak my truth.

Thank you for your consideration!
