Dear PSD board,

As a parent of a Rocky Mountain student, I am hopeful that you will adhere to the same no-mask policy that the town of Fort Collins has adopted.  No business is requiring customers to wear a mask nor prove they are vaccinated.  As you hopefully know, installing a masking/social distancing policy creates division and discord.  My 17-year-old son suffered from acne, discomfort, and a lack of ability to socialize this last year, and because he is a relatively new student to PSD, the masking mandate made it nearly impossible to make friends.

I’m hoping you will make the right decision, both for the students and the community, by not veering from the post-Covid policy in place now by the State.  If you choose to force students to mask and social distance, or divide the children up by vaccinated versus non-vaccinated, you are creating a bullying situation, one that you have preached against for the past several years.

You will be responsible for all the challenges and all the harm that will certainly ensue should you put any restrictions in place. It’s time to get back to life pre-Covid and allow all students to enjoy a normal student existence.  Please consider all the ramifications of installing any restrictions for a virus with a .003% death rate.  These kids have the same odds of winning the lottery or getting struck by lightning twice.

Lastly, and most importantly, we chose your school district because of your inclusive, loving environment and anti-bullying policies.  Please don’t make us regret moving our entire lives to a school district that simply complies with ridiculous, non-scientific policies.  I ask you to truly consider how everything you implement affects the children for life.

Respectfully,

Griffin Cole, DDS NMD, parent of 2 PSD students
