|
The Land Authority is conducting a nationwide search for an executive director to oversee all aspects of development at The Point. The executive director will assist the Land Authority in facilitating development that maximizes long-term economic opportunity for Utahns, creates high-quality jobs, advances innovation, and enhances Utahns’ quality of life.
The executive director will report directly to the Land Authority and lead a robust team of staff, consultants and development partners. Competitive candidates must be able to adeptly manage a complex and highly visible public project with skill, integrity and transparency. The executive director must possess extensive experience managing large-scale development projects, a sound understanding of the state and local policy-making process, and an in-depth knowledge of the region’s economy.
Duties include overseeing all aspects of development, including the utilization of public financing tools, negotiations with developers, adherence to design guidelines and development agreements, tenant attraction and local and state government coordination. In addition, the executive director must ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, manage finances and budgeting, conduct public involvement and facilitate transparent communication with the public. |

On July 24, the International Olympic Committee voted 83-6 to award Utah the 2034 Winter Olympic Games. Approximately 80% of Utahns support hosting the 2034 Olympics, according to a Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll. This overwhelming public support combined with well-maintained venues from the 2002 Olympics made Utah the logical choice. Bringing the Olympics back to Utah will require a multifaceted approach with state and local partners to proactively plan for transportation, lodging and much more. In February 2024, The Point’s Phase I developers, The Point Partners, announced they had worked with the SLC-Utah Olympic Committee to set aside up to 1,000 beds for the 2034 games. With Phase I development planning well underway, including backbone infrastructure such as the extension of Porter Rockwell Boulevard and plans for a new FrontRunner station, The Point is perfectly positioned to help provide much-needed lodging as Utah welcomes the world.

We are creating a public arts master plan and want to hear from you! Take our five-minute survey to let us know what you think about public art at The Point. How do you want to experience public art? What themes should be reflected? What stories should be told through art at The Point? The Land Authority’s professional team of public arts experts, Designing Local, are leveraging their broad national experience, alongside locally owned Union Creative, to create a world-class public arts program that reflects Utah values and history.
Building on past statewide public surveys in which over 4,000 Utahns participated, the team is integrating public feedback into a master public arts plan that creates a vibrant community experience throughout the site. They will also create policies and procedures for the curation, placement, and installation of public art at The Point guided by the feedback and requests of Utahns. |
