Alyson,
My wife and I are extremely upset after reading your response to Michelle's email, and speaking with her.
When I spoke to you I said I have not left the house in 3 weeks. What I meant was I haven't left the house for anything unless it was absolutely necessary. I have had many doctor appointments. Including the Palliative Specialist in Greeley, several cardiac appointments, the pulmonary specialist all of which I had to be taken to, as I cannot drive. Do you need dates? I am using my cane around the house, but I get dizzy easily and grab the walls when necessary. I have needed help at home and while out due to dizziness, loss of breath and with my oxygen machine. You asked me if I had seen my PCP Dr. Risenhover, and I have not in the last three weeks. You asked a question and I answered. I also stated I had gone to the Palliative care specialist in Greeley, How do you think I got there, teleportation? I was baited to meet your needs, not mine. I need support to go to doctor's appointments, the store and run errands. My wife and are not suppose to remain in our house for the rest of our lives. This falls in the realm of your quote to Michelle: "Accompanying includes going to medical appointments and errands, such as banking and household shopping. May include providing one or more personal care services as needed during the trip. Attendant may assist with communication, documentation, verbal prompting, and/or hands-on assistance when tasks cannot be completed without the support of the Attendant."
My wife and I are unable to drive places, and require our attendants to take us to and from appointments, and assist us to get in and out of the car and obtaining things in the store, or to seating in an office, getting the mobile carts, etc. I am not sure why this is so difficult to understand.
What more do you want from us? You told my wife during the first CDASS assessment that she would be getting accompaniment. Then it disappeared? Where did it go? One doctor's appointment and/or running errands would be at least 2 hours a week for each of us. I also am in need of protective oversite for showering. I shower daily. 20 minutes.
Donna could use assistance to have her hair dried and styled as indicated on the worksheet, but no time was given even though your forms clearly state this is acceptable and was asked about during the original assessment. Also, we still feel at least 4 loads of laundry per week is appropriate. Stating all of our clothes, no matter what color can go in one load is ridiculous.
We do not feel comfortable speaking with you. You are manipulating our words and are very uncomfortable to speak with. Your administrative attitude comes through loud and clear. We understand this program is designed to meet our needs not yours. Why are we not receiving services we need, almost everything we outlined we needed was reduced.
Please fix these items for our certification period starting March 1st and we are requesting a new case manager who is compassionate, kind and has a background in social work.

Here is a note from my NPN. I understand this shouldn’t be necessary, but here it is.
