Elkhorn Lodge Phase 2 annexation

Hello Commissioners,

I am Gina Stine. I currently reside at 290 Elm Rd, Estes Park, CO 80517.  Its the home of my sister Rebecca Glowacki of which I am in the process of purchasing.

I know Jody is aware of the Elkhorn Lodge project in estes park as I met you at Kind Coffee with Mayor Hall.  

In a basic summary, on Tuesday March 25, a petition for annexation of 43 acres from Larimer county was presented to our board.  It is currently larimer county zoned for 2.5 acres single family homes.  The applicants desire is to have it annexed into Ester Park and rezoned to build (2) 110 room hotel stuctures, (2) parking structures, (65)  "tree houses" (10) historic cabins.  There is extreme opposition by the community: traffic, light pollution,wildlife degredation, water, sanitation and fire hazards are the top concerns. In short the board had many questions but their majority concern was, " if we accept the annexation then we will be able to control the land otherwise they can present it to the county and then we have no say so or tax income"

To annex out of fear and financial jeopardy is irresponsible as this project is attempting to circumvent the county PUD laws and current zoning.  As the partnership between the county and city is no longer a joint comprehensive plan is there an opportunity to discuss this matter to find out what the county's position would be as now our trustees have indicated the countys role would determine their decision whether to annex or not.
